Questions & Answers

To increase the height of the saddle blanks, I need to cut them taller. A standard width and length are 5/8" x 15 mm or larger. What kind of items do you have similar to Is it not in there, then what should I look for?

A Graph Tech saddle is taller than any other saddle in the company's line. Having to raise the strings so high makes me wonder why you would need to do so. This sounds like the neck of the guitar has a problem or the guitar's face

Can you give me the color of the saddle, is it white or more of a color?

Rather than a pure white, they are off white and look like pale ivory.

Would you mind sharing the other two dimensions with me? Is there a need for 2" of ?

Dimensions are four inches by one eighth inch by five half inches. I am sorry, but we are not able to provide a 2" length. A preview of this one can be found here These are the dimensions of the package.

I ordered bone blanks in lieu of this, and it was much more convenient
3/5

This blank is intended to be used to make a custom bridge saddle for my guitar, and I bought it from Graph Tech. I took it home, but it was a little too large and thick for my purpose, and would have required more work than I anticipated. This Graph Tech TUSQ Oversized Guitar Saddle Blank Ivory 1/8" had the same high, harsh resonance that I disliked in their Graph Tech bridge pins, but maybe this is because Tusq can withstand impacts better than Graph Tech bridge pins. Ultimately, I did not use this blank, but if I do the extra work to make a bridge from this material, I will update this As well as Vencetmat 6 I ordered My bridge fit easily on these bone bridge saddle blanks because there was no resonance at all, and they required no work to adjust. In the end, I made a bridge from one of these and I am satisfied with it.

It has a great tone and its a great material to work with
5/5

It came exactly 1/8" thick as described measured with my calipers. I used it on an Ibanez classical nylon guitar to replace a plastic bridge saddle that was too thin and leaning forward. Using the profile of the old saddle, I traced on to the new tusq blank the existing profile of the saddle. To achieve the perfect fit, we used a small saw and belt sander to get it close to profile. Then we sanded it using 220 and 500 grit grit by hand on a flat surface. As a result, I was really surprised by the tone and the increase in overall volume of the guitar after the installation, it had such life again. I confess that I was intimidated before I began this project, but the material was so easy to work with, easy enough to shape with simple tools, but hard enough to be forgiving in that too much wasn't removed too soon. With even consistency throughout, rather than voids in the middle as there might be.

The product was perfect
5/5

I was very happy with my purchase. Now the end of the Ibanez GA5 classical guitar sounds as if it has been upgraded by There is absolutely no reason for me to complain about this product, and I highly recommend other people to try I dropped each saddle on my hardwood table, just for the purpose of hearing the differences in pitch, as soon as I took it out of the package. After removing the old saddle from the guitar, I placed each saddle on the guitar. While it sounded like a piece of glass, the Tusq saddle was louder than the old saddle. This is a positive I had no problems getting it to fit perfectly because I did my homework before purchasing it, so I was able to sand it down. My search resulted in information on it, along with tips from other guitarists as to how it should be used. You'll have to sand a little for it to look right. The first sanding I did was with 80-grit Initially, 2000- has been the standard, but has gradually moved up to 2100- Use grit paper to smooth the surface of the nut as it gets closer to the right size. If you lay your grit paper on a piece of glass or a glass tabletop, you will get a flat surface. The old saddle can be used as a template to trace onto the new saddle with a pencil before any sanding is done. Graph Tech Tusq nuts were also used to replace the nut on this guitar. Compared to that $200 Salvador Ibanez guitar I bought in 2007, it now sounds so much better that it feels like a brand new instrument. I feel the same way you do when you've heard the feeling of excitement that comes with playing a nice, new instrument.

The process of making a custom saddle is not difficult
5/5

The old Yamaha FG150 saddle had to be replaced. I had to make my own saddle blank as the odd size didn't match any of the compensated TUSQ saddles. In order to optimize intonation, the slot was carefully trimmed to fit the radius of the top and the top radius shaped to round out the top. As soon as the guitar was fitted with its new saddle, it came alive again. This song is more resonant and has more sparkle than the last one.

This site is the best for laying bridges and saddles yourself. Compared to bone or Micarta, this material has a better tone.
