Questions & Answers

The saddle of his horse is made of what type of bone?

I'm here. Bovine (cow) bone is what you see here. We will be delighted to answer any other questions you may have. I appreciate your kind words.

There is a Guild 12-inch on my shelf from 1976 What happens if I use the saddle with this string?

The dimensions of your Guild saddle should be measured. Try fitting the new saddle to your slot to ensure it fits properly. It is possible that the new saddle must be sanded a bit. It would be a great upgrade if you have a plastic saddle.

Can it be used on an Oliver Orangewood ?

Every guitar manufacturer may have their own spec for length, width, etc. However, Martin Guitars (for which this was made) were the first to introduce steel string guitars to the US. So everyone copies their product. My only two recommendations are they ought to be snugly fitting in order to transmit sound properly. As a matter of fact, it fitted my Martin saddle hole more snugly than a Tusk brand I used in the past. It was a bit longer and thicker than I would have liked. To be safe, it is a good idea to have a grinder or sander.

The bone is good
4/5

The quality of the product is 5 stars. The second purchase i made, however, made no difference to me at all, excluding While I am not sure who is to blame for this, because I know it's a great bone, I will not give it a low rating. There's no way I understand how they failed to realize there was no bone in it when they packaged it for shipment through Amazon. It should have been obvious that a bone was missing from the lack of rigidity in the little baggie, but human error is a reality. A refund was given so I bought it again as soon as I contacted Amazon. To prevent this from happening again, please do everything you can. As a first-time customer, I would actually be upset if this was my first order.

This is my first experience with this bone, and I have been very pleased. A perfect fit and a great sound made for a nice experience.

I highly recommend it as a I agree that this is a really good product, and after watching the video, I understood how to modify it
5/5

A part I have replaced in my Martin GPCRSG was the stock bridge. was having trouble with a deadening of my EBG strings beyond 12. By sanding almost to the line, not only did I solve the issue, but also the whole guitar sounds pleasantly cleaner and this time a little louder than before. It is not terribly difficult to use, although if the bridge action is low you may need to use a larger piece of 120grit sandpaper. It is a great product, and I will use it again when I need to replace my Taylor 814 bridge.

A great saddle made of bone! Removing the compensation from the system
5/5

Those horses love it, and these saddles fit perfectly in their slots. The saddle only needed a little tweaking for my liking. It was perhaps a bit too tight, and since I wanted to lower the action on my guitar strings, I sanded off the compensation and rounded the top off a bit lower than the saddle it originally had on. I rounded off the top because I had noticed that high-end Martin guitars usually do not have a compensated saddle, they just have a normal even saddle top, so I had to try it out myself and Now I love the sound it produces, and I'm more in love with my guitar Also, I paired it with bone bridge pins and the bass seems to be more balanced. Before, the bass' saddle was made out of tusq and its bridge pins were made of plastic, so now it sounds how I wanted it to. It will not be the last time I buy a bone saddle from this seller. The Martin D Special Ovangkol guitar in question is a Martin D Special.

A great time-saver for setting up a guitar for the first time
5/5

I am very satisfied with the sound. My intention was to replace the saddle on a fairly new Martin D41 that I recently The saddle has enough height to accommodate any setup you like. The top is somewhat presanded in the correct direction so that it will accommodate intonation of most higher end Martin guitars (I'm not against cheap Martins, just haven't handled To get it to play in tune, I had to take a little more off, but not much. (A helpful tip if the string plays sharply is to file or sand the top toward the pins if flat remove the material on the top towards the Make sure your 32nds inch rule is accurate, check work against the old saddle string up, and set your neck relief, then turn on some mean bluegrass music. This would be one I would buy again if I needed one.

I highly recommend this product
5/5

It's exactly as described and is a great value for In order to lower the action of my Martin 000RS1, I purchased this saddle to replace the white Tusk (plastic) saddle that came on it. By doing so, I hope to improve the tone and lower the action of this already great There is actually quite a bit of material in this saddle since it is an inch taller than the stock saddle. With some bone bridge pins I installed, I sanded off about 3/16 of an inch from the height and it made a huge difference in tone. Especially on the higher frets, the action is much better and easier to play.

This is a great replacement bone saddle
5/5

I was thrilled to find a replacement Bone Saddle that fit perfectly over the bridge of my Martin 000-spec guitar This is perfect for 15M. The action of my guitar is now playing properly after I sanded the bottom down with sandpaper. Make sure you take your time to sand down the saddle so that it stays nice and smooth. The outcome of the replacement is very good and I am very pleased with this product.

It fits the Martin (X series), and it sounds just like the This is the right saddle for me since I didn't want to sand the original one
5/5

I have a Martin (X series), and they fit perfectly. After sanding to my liking, I lowered the action and now I am able to play the guitar more comfortably. My ear doesn't perceive a difference between the New Saddle and the Original Saddle (I am just an amateur Considering the overall benefits of this saddle, I would recommend replacing original Martins.

It is a good fit for the D series Martins
5/5

I greatly appreciated the sand paper included in the kit. Thickness and height were both right on, but height had to be lowered by hand by using a flat surface and sand paper and gradually decreasing to the desired I consider this to be a nice piece of bone, considering the fact that you never have to touch the radius or intonation at all. It was a great purchase. I will buy it again.
