Edit A little winding up of the metronome helped me get somewhat more even beats. When it is fully wound, it seems more accurate, and as it is winding down, it begins to dissipate and become softer. Whenever the beats are too uneven, I'll just wind up 100% anytime they get too odd. The slower beats were more obvious that they are uneven, so if I needed a very accurate beat (eg to pace for my exams), then I'll just wind up completely. Metronome is a cool little device. It has been a tradition/classic choice for me to select Wittner. 1900's larger one and so I was delighted to find the smaller version that had the same tasteful look and sounded as good as the original.
