Questions & Answers

Would these fit on a slingerland from the 1970s without requiring new holes to be drilled?

Regrettably, it's a hit-or-miss proposition. On each spur, I had to re-drill a hole. These should not be purchased through Amazon. You can get them from Sam Ash on-line. If you decide to get them, send an email to [email protected]. They are of excellent quality.

Is there a pointed steel tip hidden beneath the rubber feet that can be used on carpeted floors?

I don't recall seeing any points at the end of the game.

Will these fit a Pdp bass drum that is 22 inches in diameter?

To secure the brackets to the bass drum, you might need to drill new mounting holes. These were attached to an 18" "marching bass drum" and a tom mount that I turned into a "set bass drum." Preparation was not an issue for me. On the bass drum, I drilled mounting holes that lined up with the new hardware. I don't recall seeing any information about the mounting holes on the spurs, such as their dimensions or spacing.

Would these work as a bass drum when mounted on a 16" floor tom?

In theory, yes. yes. The 16" drum's curvature may be too curvy for the brackets in practice. br>br>The length of the spurs/height at which you install them on the drum should be fine as well, but I recommend looking online for pictures or forum posts about how people install spurs on floor toms and what spurs they use.

My experience with the product was positive
5/5

Had a T- One of my bass drum spurs had a handle fall off, so I had to replace it. This is a custom-ordered set of Ludwig Super Classic drums, manufactured between 1995 and 1996. I wasn't sure if the Ludwig parts I discovered on the internet were genuine. Salespeople at music stores who had contacted Ludwig had not given him definitive feedback on whether or not the line would fit. This Gibraltar section was found on the- My Ludwig spur had a line that looked very similar to it. This part was discovered in a number of on-line stores. I was hoping to use line sources, but wasn't sure if it would work. Finally, I checked Amazon, and they had measurements for the spacing of the screw holes on the base plate. I removed the head and measured my own, and they were identical. Today I received the part and put it on my BD. It was the perfect fit. I'm very happy. It can be difficult to find hardware that fits older drums. br>br>Not only does it fit, but it also works like the original and has a retractable point for carpet use. I always bring a carpet remnant to set up on, so the spur legs' tips are buried in the carpet and the bass drum doesn't move around while you're playing. Because the BD would creep while playing, the rubber tips aren't of much use if at all. Without the steel points buried in the carpet, there's no way it'll stay in place. br>br>Excellent buy for my needs. Also, the part appears to be sturdy and well-made. The test will come with time and usage. br>br>Oh, and the Gibraltar part was a fraction of the price of the Ludwig.

Enough to withstand the test of time
5/5

An old Remo Bravo II acousticon bass drum from the 1990s had spurs that needed to be replaced. On one of the original brackets, the tightener had gotten loose. On the drum, it appears to be a good fit. Because the original brackets on my drum were so large, I was unable to cover two original holes with the replacement. This will be a model-like situation. I think it's a minor issue, but it's not a major one for me. There is no sound difference that I can hear. If you need to replace a broken spur completely, chances are you won't be able to find anything that fits into the existing holes, so you'll have to drill. The drum is now playable for me, so this was a must-do for me. br>br>I used the rubber insert as a template to measure, then lightly marked the finish with the tip of a screwdriver before drilling. I was a little hesitant to do so, especially given the material I was drilling into, but it turned out to be a good decision. I went ahead and replaced the other side after I fixed the broken one. It's reasonably sturdy and appears to be well-made, so I went ahead and gave it five stars. However, for my own peace of mind, I would not want anything less durable than this, so if you're looking to replace your own spurs, I would avoid a cheaper substitute. br>br>TIPS: There are no guidelines to follow. Before you start your drill, make sure you measure several times. Make sure the bracket is oriented correctly. Drill a hole large enough to allow the bracket's screw holes to pass through the shell (rather than just large enough for the screws) if you're going to replace both sides.

Drum Spurs are fantastic, and the item itself is fantastic

br>br>Generally, Amazon delivery is excellent, but this package was left leaning against my garage door. "It was left on the back porch," Amazon said. " I don't have a back porch!" says the narrator. The package could have easily been taken by anyone. NOT GOOD! Product gets 5 stars, but Amazon delivery gets a 0!.

On my bass drum, it works really well
4/5

It's nice, solid, attractive, and effective, and it's doing a great job on my bass drum, replacing some worn-out, clunky leg fixtures on my larger Tama bass drum. It's a little tricky to put them together because they're different; one works on the right and the other on the left, but there aren't any markings to show which goes where. I recommend that you take your time and make sure you do everything correctly. When not in use, they fold up neatly and have a large field of travel for the feet, making it simple to brace the drum properly. Yes, they are something I enjoy and would recommend.

As others have pointed out, there are no instructions other than Greg to get up
5/5

There are no instructions, as others have pointed out, but Greg has a very helpful review (thanks!). Before you install anything, you should read this. Once the alignment was complete, I carefully drilled three new holes with brad point bits (one of the old holes could be reused). These are definitely a retro fit on most drum kits, but they are a vast improvement in stability and adjustability over my old spurs, which I installed on a Ludwig Accent bass drum, just in case anyone needs to know.

That's great; just make sure you plan ahead for the installation
5/5

I recently joined a band, and their practice kit had the most s***ty bass drum spurs I've ever seen. I purchased these and, while they required some finagling to install (note: Drill holes in the back of the spurs for the diameter of the screw brackets, not the screws, or they will not mount flush). They're great, and they're the exact spurs that came with my Spaun kit!.
