How Our Score Is Calculated

Product Description

Two identical plies of 10 mil film were used to make a 12" snare batter drum head.
To ensure maximum durability, the total thickness is 23 mil.
For added durability, focus, and attack without getting in the way of brushes, the reverse dot is mounted on the underside of the head.
The Level 360 Technology collar ensures that the drum head and the drum shell are in proper contact.

Questions & Answers

Is this something that could be used with brushes?

Brushes will benefit from it. Keep in mind that it's a very loud head, so it's probably not ideal for jazz. The sound of hard rock/heavy metal has received widespread acclaim.

Why have I placed two orders for this drum head and received the same, incorrect one each time?

I'm not sure why you're having that problem. I recommend Musician Friend or Sweetwater Music for your music needs.

They sent me the incorrect size, and the box it came in was in perfect condition, but the product was completely destroyed. Is it possible that someone did it on purpose?

It's not uncommon for items to be shipped that aren't fit for human consumption. Request a refund, then return it. They must rectify the situation.

Is there any reason why this would be a bad or good timbale choice?

To reduce sustain, this head has been coated. The heads of Timbale have a lot of ring because they are clear. It's also much thicker than a wooden head, with a thin metal disk beneath it for added strength. I believe it is too heavy for a timbale, causing it to sound more like a regular drum. I hope this information is useful.

Durable
3/5

The sound, on the other hand, is a big no-no. I've always used Evans heads since I first started playing and decided to give this one a shot (because it was the only head that fit my needs and was available on Amazon Prime). I play rock and metal, but I always want my snare to have that beautiful "CRACK" when I hit it. This snare head is extremely thick, and getting a decent sound from it necessitates a hard strike on each hit. The sound of ghost notes is unpleasant, and hitting near the rim is even worse. A monotone snare drum head for drummers who like to slam the snare drum hard and don't play much detail. I've spent two hours tuning the top and bottom heads and am still unable to achieve the desired tone.

It's fine, but it's not what I'm looking for
3/5

On my DW acrylic snare drum, I used this head. I'd say the thickness and durability are there, but you have to hit HARD every time to get that LOUD, wet, crack snare hit. The tone is thick, almost too thick - muffled in some ways I really like Evan's heads and have been using them for a while on my kick/Toms, but I think the reverse dot is my favorite for a 14" snare drum head.

It's tough and doesn't sound choked like you might expect (due to the thickness)
5/5

THE SNARE HEAD is the name of the drum head you're looking at. It's tough and doesn't sound choked like you might expect (due to the thickness). In fact, there's a lot of crack on this drum head! Since Evans' switch to 360. . . the ST has sounded choked to me, I tried this drum head and prayed, and my prayers were answered. Evans, I appreciate your help. br>br>Recent changes: br>br> I've been looking for a better snare drum head for a heavy hitter but haven't been able to locate one. Head comparisons on Drumeo are useful because they allow you to hear how a good-sounding snare drum will sound with this head installed. The genera hds, powercenters, and STs were on my radar. Out of all of them, this one continues to sound the best to me.

Small floor toms can be tuned low using this technique
5/5

On a 14-inch floor tom with a difficult low tuning, it sounds fantastic. We can use a dampening ring now because there is so much tone.

Evans is constantly on the job
5/5

Ludwig has successfully tamed the snare drum. Everything was fine once this drum head was installed. Evans is a rock-solid player.

With a strong attack, this character is very durable
5/5

If you're a heavier hitter, this is a great head for you because it's built to take a beating while still providing excellent attack without the need for unnecessary sustain tones. I would strongly suggest it.

You can hit this head as hard as you want
4/5

This head will withstand any punishment you can dish out! I'm a big guy, so I decided to try it, and it's still on my snare a year later. I'd give it five stars, but I didn't think it had enough tone or was durable enough. As a backup, I'll rely on my trusted Emperor X.
