My impression is that they sound very similar, albeit a little brighter. I've been buying Remo drums for years and purchased this one to repair a student's drum. He appears to be in good spirits, as his head has held up well.

This is how I set up my snare drum; With the Evans Hybrid Coated Snare Batter Drum Head 14 Inch, I'm using a Steel SensiTone snare drum with a chrome finish. This Ludwig C1114 Weather Master 14-Inch Bottom Head is what I'm using for my bottom head. X-Inch Clear X-Inch Clear X-Inch Clear Drumhead with a thin bottom snare side that is resonant. PureSound Twisted Series Snare Wire, 20 Double Strand 14 Inch, and Monster Percussion Superior Snare Straps - I went with the PureSound Twisted Series Snare Wire, 20 Double Strand 14 Inch and the Monster Percussion Superior Snare Straps - I went with the Monster Percussion Superior Snare color; Midnight. I've raised the pitch a little, and there's almost no overtone left. I'm hearing a crisp, bright sound - Good attack and balance, with no overtones at all. When it comes to drum sounds, I'm extremely picky and go to great lengths to personalize my setup in order to find the perfect sound combination for my kit, and I'm very happy with these.
These are the most accurate snare reso heads available for vintage Ludwig snare drums. br>They fit perfectly and sound fantastic. There is no extra resonance and the clarity is excellent. br>I use these with Ludwig Medium batter heads on my 1965 Jazz Festival and 1968 Supraphonic.
Unlike many of the more modern designs geared toward heavy hitters, this one isn't overly heavy. Snare articulation is improved thanks to the responsiveness and thinness of the head.
I'm old school, so I made my 1968 superphonic sound like a 1968 superphonic. Try a remo snare side head if you don't mind the sound.
that's fine.
This is a snare side head's hidden treasure. super thin and super responsive You'll be ecstatic with how it makes you sound.
Bottom head for the snare drum, exactly as I requested.
