How Our Score Is Calculated

Product Description

A single ply of 5mil film was used to make a 13" glass (clear) snare resonant drum head.
At high dynamic levels, the 5mil head provides excellent snare response.
For deep drums or heavy rock performances, this track is ideal.
13" is also an option.
Evans drum heads are all designed, engineered, and built in the United States.

Questions & Answers

Is this head compatible with the Evans UV1 batter heads?

When it comes to heads, there are no hard and fast rules, but single ply heads for snares must fall into one of two categories. The 300 and 500 are made by Evan's. The 500 is a bit thicker, and you might like it or not. But, yes, it's all about trial and error. It'll suffice, but if you're using a UV1, I'd recommend the 300.

Do you sell them in pairs or as a single item? Keep in mind that there are two sides to a drum. Please inform me of this first. ?

The snare side (bottom) of the drum is all that is shown here. There is a distinction between resonant heads and batter heads. The batter's head is the one you strike. The snare wires are the only thing that come into contact with this head.

Is the bottom side of the snare drum the same as the snare drum?

Yes, you are purchasing the bottom head where the strainer wires come into contact with this product.

When you use toms, do the snares buzz?

You'll get SOME snare buzz no matter what. It all depends on how tight the snares are and how well the toms and snare are tuned. In comparison to tight snares, loose snares produce more buzz. In addition, the closer the tom(s) are to the snare's pitch, the more snare buzz will be present. This is due to the sound waves' frequency.

Most snares get a rock/metal tone from this solid, well-priced drum
5/5

I usually tighten my reso head down (usually 87-90%) when I use this head with the hybrid, and it's perfect! 90 on the drum dial) this time I just went by sound; dial testing gave me 87 near the snare beds and 85 on the rest of the lugs; giving those two tension rods an extra turn or two kills any snare buzz. However, the clear 500 reso has never given me any issues with snare buzz. When making rim shots, it feels fantastic and cracks like a whip. I'm glad I took a step back, because I've already popped 300 clear reso heads. Snare heads are usually Remo (bass drums are EMAD all the way!). ) and Evans for Toms, but now it's the other way around! The Evans 500 clear reso and the Evans hybrid batter were meant to be together! I'm not sure how Evans will improve upon their already impressive drum head lineup. If you want a little more reso in your snare but don't want to go with a two-ply head, the 500 is the way to go. It's extremely durable, and it's priced to sell!.

These heads are fantastic
5/5

These heads are fantastic. I've been using Diplomats for years, but I've always found them to be a little too sensitive, especially with the looser snare wires that I prefer. I chose the 500's because they are slightly thicker (5 mil vs. 3) than the Diplomats, and I found that the extra thickness provided the fatter sound I was looking for. I've since switched over to these heads on all of my other snares, and they all sound fantastic. I would highly recommend these to anyone looking for a rich, fat sound with enough sensitivity for buzz rolls and softer playing.

The reso head is amazing and underrated
5/5

I put this on my pork pie big black brass snare with pure sound super 30 and hydraulic head, and wow, now I have a nice thick back beat, which I really like. Bottom head was tight, and I gave my batter a medium tune. I really like the sound of my snare. I still get a good ghost note, which is sufficient for contemporary Christian music. I don't play jazz, but I do like a nice deep tone on my drums and washy cymbals, which helps a lot with the beefy sound I like to use to drive songs.

For more than 8 years, I've had a passion for all types of percussion instruments (various types of drums, claves, maracas, wood and metal spoons) as well as other musical instruments such as the harmonica, recorder, Indian and Chinese flutes

br>br>I was looking for a new snare drum head recently when I came across this one (Evans clear 500 snare side 14 inch drum) advertised on Amazon for a good price. I was surprised at how quickly my order arrived after ordering it online; it arrived one day after I placed the order, and I found it to be a good sounding beat after installing it on my snare drum. If you're looking for a drum head, Amazon has a variety of Evan models. br>br>rating: br>br>rating: br>br>rating: 4 stars. Joseph J. Aids in the production of a punchy, deep sound
5/5

Aids in the creation of a fat, punchy sound. When compared to a thinner snare side head, there is a significant difference. Much darker, throatier, and punchier. br>br>I cranked this head super tight, went about a quarter turn past finger tightened on the batter head, applied a Richie Ring and a Moon Gel, and loosened the snares to make it buzzy. br>br>It has a DEEP ring to it and makes you feel sick to your stomach. It will be a huge hit with both your band and your engineer.

I'm a Remo fan every day of the week, and I personally don't care for most Evans products, but I thought I'd give this head a try because it arrived damaged and sounded unimpressive
3/5

This 5-star hotel was purchased by me. mil. For my DW 8"x14" chrome over steel snare, I purchased a snare side head in the hopes of utilizing its darker tones and thicker construction. A thicker snare side head, according to my research, can help eliminate overtones while also producing a deeper, darker sound, which is ideal for my heavy rock style. br>br>When it arrived at my door (in two days and on-time), I was very pleased. The first thing I noticed was the enormous box in which it was packaged. After bringing it inside and opening it, I was dismayed to discover that the flat drum head box I had received was in pretty bad shape, clearly due to 1. the ample "leg room" it had inside the colossal box it was shipped in, and 2. they didn't use nearly enough paper stuffing to fill out the box's volume So, after putting up with a brand new, damaged product, I tossed it on my snare and tuned it up to my specifications. I wasn't crazy about it after listening for a change in attack, sustain, and pitch. I could hear the changes that were supposed to happen with a thicker reso, but the actual reproduction of its naturally darker sound wasn't nearly as good as I had hoped. Overtones were still present in the sustain, but they were even worse than with the factory DW Remo snareside head. br>br>I'm sure some Evans fans are laughing at my failed attempt to find my ideal snare sound in this review. However, I have to say that most of the heads I've bought in the past sound MUCH better after a week of practice to allow them to settle nicely around the bearing edges.

For a snare drum, this is the bottom head
5/5

Evans is, without a doubt, the best clean sound I've heard in my 10 years as a drummer.
