Kickpads of this kind are usually used in football. In addition to protecting the bass drum, it is used as a soundproofing. As a side note, because you can get a bass drum for $5, you should not be surprised if it's useless.

drumheads I've ever used, particularly on my toms and kick drums, have been Aquarian drumheads. I also prefer, and use Aquarian drumheads - The use of- With all my bass drum heads, I exclusively use Aquarian Thin Kick pads. My drum set is made up of three bass drums (20", 22" and 24") with four different batter heads, each for a different gig or musical style. With the thin pad of the Aquarian KP1, the batter head is still protected enough without altering the tone very much. The product I use works beautifully for my playing. This is an incredible product from an incredible company.
Regardless of whether or not you use Aquarian heads, this is worth buying. The longevity of any head will be prolonged with this!.

The battery does not stay charged as long Unfortunately, the sticky surface wasn't strong enough to take the force of my kick.
