Yes. Evans makes one with a hole that is 5 inches off center.
It isn't shiny at all.
I honestly believe it's just the difference in texture between the coated and smooth heads, which are both clear but white.
EVANS was born in the United States and raised in the United Kingdom. Drum head that I made. Their factory is located on Long Island, New York. I'm sure they'd be happy to assist you with a "custom" order if you contacted them directly.

Because they're so expensive (roughly $90 for batter and reso), I never replaced the heads on my kick. I bought the emad 2 for the batter side because I was getting ready for a show and my pdp concept set still had the stock reso head. WOW DOES IT MAKE A DIFFERENCE? I chose this as my new reso head, and WOW DOES IT MAKE A DIFFERENCE? The kick is thick and deep, and it sounds so full. If you've never had anything other than stock heads on your kick, the eq3 reso head and the emad 2 kick are both excellent choices. They make a great pair and are simple to tune. Evans is one of my favorite actors.
There were no reviews for the 18" head that I could find, so here is one. This head is fantastic in my opinion. I understand that 18" is considered a jazz size, and the Gretsch Catalina Club is sold as such, but you don't have to limit yourself to that. In this day and age, where excessive volume is frowned upon anyway, I believe the bop kits are ideal for all types of music. Smaller kits are often easier to record because they have less air moving around and cause fewer acoustic issues. br>br>I installed this ported resonant head on one side and an EMAD on the other, tuned them both low, and now I have a cracking little bass drum with a perfect low pop rock sound. The inside of the ported head is lined; it won't protect you from a razor blade, but you can stick your hand in there and adjust your blankets or microphone without worrying about damaging your head. br>br>The Sennheiser e602 II is my favorite kick drum mic because it strikes the perfect balance of mix-ability and clarity. in a state of readiness the- For me, the sound of the room is important. While my e602 can pick up a great tone from almost any bass drum without a ported resonant bass drum head, the port allows me to fine tune exactly what I want from the kick drum, resulting in a more controlled sound with less bleed and EQ. Get this head, br>br>br>br>br>br>br> It will appeal to you, as well as live sound and studio engineers.
That's a killer idea. The use of a small logo is advantageous. The size of the hole is ideal for inserting a microphone, and it is well-cut. It would be better if it were at 3 o'clock, but if you don't mind the logo being crooked, you can simply turn the head to your desired position.
I use a Kick port in this skin, and it works perfectly. I was considering making a decal, which is why the reso kick head is white rather than black. It's evans on the other end of the line. I use it in conjunction with EMAD2 BATTERS and find it to be a fantastic product.
It's both visually and audibly stunning.
I like Evans heads, but I thought this one was a little too thick for a resonant head. It's all a matter of personal preference, I suppose.
I purchased this head in order for one of my bandmates to paint a band portrait on it. He did an excellent job, but as I suspected, the weight of the paint on the head reduced the head's performance, so I'm not getting as good a sound as I would if it hadn't been painted. Instead of a "INKED" head, I might do one next time.
This head is an excellent reso choice; It's fantastic both in terms of sound and appearance. While there is no metal or plastic cutout protector included, there is reinforcement on the back of the hole to prevent tears when using a microphone. This matte-coated finish is also fantastic in my opinion. It gives your kit a lovely, classic appearance.
