With or without a microphone, an internal overtone control ring and a removable muffle ring, as well as dry-vents, work extremely well.

Is this the batter's head, or the batter's head?

Yes; There is an EQ3 resonant head, but this one is the better of the two.

When compared to a Remo Powerstroke 3, how does this stack up?

Depending on the type of drum shell you want to use with this head, the eq3 has a warmer sound than the power-pro. stroke 3. It has some kind of attack on it. There isn't much. It is also very durable to use the bass drum beater pack.

Great kick drumhead that is both durable and versatile

I've been using these Eq3 bass heads for a few years now, and while I do switch to different kick heads now and then, I always try Evans first. I like the EMAD heads, but the dampening ring plastic sheath material always seems to degrade and crack after a while, so I've had to look for heads that didn't do that, and the eq3 is pretty close. At medium tension, they produce a nice thumpy tone, and I occasionally loosen a few of the lugs to boost the attack. In addition, I've included the Slug Percussion Tri- I'm a double bass player, so these heads aren't only super durable, but they also sound great with very little muffling.

The position of the head is incorrect

The item itself is satisfactory. It sounds fine, but because it was overstretched when it arrived, I can't tune it as low as I'd like. I'm still wearing my old head for the time being.

My 20" Pearl Export Select poplar wood kick drum shakes the roof off while remaining warm and punchy. I've been using them for a long time and have yet to find one that doesn't have that special something that just makes me play better; it's difficult to describe. Perhaps it's the fact that there are two plies at 7 o'clock. It's only a few millimeters each, but it sounds so smooth and EQ'd right out of the box that mistuning this beast is nearly impossible.
