I'm not sure what "No T" had to say about this stand; perhaps his or her horn is unusual. My old King double horn fits perfectly in the stand, and the upright doesn't even fit into any of the crooks; The main tuning slide, on the other hand, is pressed up against it. The little arms at the bottom must be swung out from the "feet" - this is very important to remember. The horn sits in there once that's done, and it's not at all difficult to use. br>br>Nice and reliable. Padded so that there is no clanking or banging when you rest the horn in it.
The photographer does not appear to be a horn player in the photo on the side of the box. I'd never leave my horn in the stand as it is now. On leg A, I position my horn with the center peg in the bell's throat and my blow pipe angled over the Hercules logo. Then I gently hook the top of the bell with the padded latches on legs B and C by tilting the horn slightly. To achieve the best center of gravity, move the blow pipe to the left or right of leg A, depending on your horn. By slightly tilting the horn up, you can achieve this. The horn has a ten-fold increase in security for me. I'm not a professional musician, but I bring my horn to work with me and practice when the store is closed. This is much better than laying my horn on the floor or leaning it against a counter and hoping for an accident.
She thinks it's great and thinks I should get one for myself. She went on to say that wasting my money on anything less than a Hercules was a waste of money, and that if I wanted a stand, I should get this one. I'm quite taken aback by how well my horn feels as if it's being cradled in this stand as it is in my own hands. The arms can be adjusted to caress any horn, not just one specific model. I've seen a Paxman, a Holton Farkas, a Conn (6D and 8D), and an F horn stand, and this is the most universal I've ever seen. These stands are full of old people who are all resting comfortably.
Although there were no instructions, I was able to figure it out by looking at the picture on the box. I'm not bothered by the fact that it isn't balanced, as some reviewers have pointed out. My double horn looks great on it, and I like having it out in the open instead of in the case. It's a silent testament to the fact that I need to practice. This is something I'm glad I got.
SHE ENJOYS IT.
Protects the horn from dents and scratches by displaying it and holding it securely. Simply do not leave the horn on there for an extended period of time if you intend to play it (unless you already do) because dust will collect inside the horn and, if you have a screw on bell, it may become stuck. But that was my boyfriend's problem, and it had nothing to do with the item's quality; it was simply a forewarning of what might happen.
Long rehearsals or practice sessions will benefit greatly from this item. I keep mine out all the time so I don't have to put it away in between practices. Also suitable for guitars! br>br>.
