Questions & Answers

Is there a risk of it catching fire?

This is the winner of today's InterWebz. Perhaps not tomorrow, but most certainly today. You have my respect. br>br>Toxicbr>Flammablebr>

It will not be delivered to my home address because Amazon refuses to ship it to me. Why?

Why? I have no idea. This is not the first time I've heard of it. The only time I've seen this happen is if your ship to address includes both a PO box and a street address.

What is the purpose of this?

The image of a coronet on the bottle's top front (which could be a trumpet or any musical instrument with one or more valves) is worth noting. This oil is used to keep the valves lubricated and easy to compress and release as the player changes notes. I play trumpet and use it to warm up before most sessions. I also lubricate the blades of my electric razor with it. br>br>I'd also like to point out that the bottle I received did not have the same type of cap as the one shown in the product image. Mine had a cap that required you to press down to open it (much like a child-proof medication). It didn't work out so well, so I poured the contents into a nearly empty bottle I already had.

Is my wood going to be harmed as a result of this? My guitars' frets have been deep cleaned and condition using valve oil. I'm not sure if this is feasible. ?

No, I wouldn't use it on a fingerboard. Any valve oil for raw wood, such as ebony or rosewood, is not recommended. The majority of them are based on petroleum. I would suggest using something clear or just Lemon Oil to clean a lacquered Maple.

Tasty
5/5

First and foremost, I'd like to express my gratitude to Amazon for asking me to rate this product based on its flavor. In order to keep you guessing, I've decided to give it five stars in that category. Second, I'm writing this review because the valve oil I'm using now is noticeably better than the one I've been using for years. I'm a professional trumpet player who uses a Bach Stradivarius, and this oil helped me free up my valves so I could play more freely. It was recommended by a colleague, and I'm glad I took his advice. I'm going to buy more. 🎺.

UPDATE: a year later: Excellent valve oil with a long shelf life! Kids will struggle to open the safety cap
4/5

I bought a bottle of Holton Valve Oil for my trumpet when I had a mullet in the late 1980s, and it has lasted until now. My three sons are now all playing trumpet, which has resulted in a threefold increase in valve oil consumption. Maybe even more, because my boys like to oil their valves like a pig at the county fair. This oil, Blue Juice, is of excellent quality. It's not so thick that it won't flow down the valves, but it's also not so thin that it won't last; the valves are smooth and haven't needed to be re-oiled in months of regular play. Since the beginning of the school year, I've been lubricating everything. We'll have these bottles of valve oil for a long time, I predict. br>There are two points to be aware of:
- If you get valve oil on your clothes or it drips inside a case, it doesn't stain blue, but it does look oily.
- The bottles I received have a safety cap. It's understandable that a manufacturer would put a cap like this on a bottle of oil to prevent accidental ingestion in today's world, but it makes opening the bottle a chore. Especially for a young child or someone who is holding a trumpet in the other hand. br>Overall, this was a great buy in terms of both functionality and price. Play on! For your convenience, I've attached a photo. br>br>1st UPDATE: 1st UPDATE: 1st UPDATE: 1st UPDATE: 1st U This Blue Juice is still working well after one and a half years of school. My boys each have one in their trumpet cases, and each bottle contains 90% left so a little goes a long way is a long way is a long way is a long way% The oil continues to perform admirably, but there is one point to consider. My middle schooler's well-intentioned music teacher aided in the oiling of my son's valves prior to a concert, but she used a different brand of valve oil. A few weeks later, the result was a set of valves from the mixture that were not operating as smoothly as they should have been. I'm not sure if it was because of the two brands mixing or because the teacher used a bad oil, but I cleaned and reoiled those valves with Blue Juice and everything is fine now.

Stupid bottle cap vs
3/5

advertised bottle cap - The bottle I received did not look like the one in the picture. The top of the one I got required a pair of pliers to remove - It had to be squeezed and then turned, much like a medicine bottle. It took a lot of effort, even with pliers, to get it off. Also, the top and bottom of the cap were similar to caps in that the top had to be separated from the bottom part, which was actually separated from the bottom strip - It appeared as if it had been received by someone else, who became frustrated and returned it. What a ludicrous method of packaging valve oil. br>br> My most recent bottle came with a standard cap, similar to the one shown here - So I'm going to cut the top off the one I got and pour the contents of the new bottle into the old one. And I will "never" order from this retailer again.

Ugh! It's impossible to get this thing open! The bottle's lid was incredibly difficult to open
3/5

My 11-year-old had tried many times before. My husband had to remove it with pliers because my son was only a year old. The lid became misshapen, and the bottle could no longer be closed. So, in a nutshell, this was a one-time deal. item that can be used over and over again We didn't use the product right away after ordering it, so we missed the return window. aggravated.

Valve oil that is of good quality In 8oz bottles, it was a better deal- Blue juice is the oil I use on most of my trumpets, and it smells like gasoline
3/5

It's simple and effective. I used to be able to buy it in 8oz bottles and refill my smaller bottles (because I have several trumpets and cases), but the larger bottles became unavailable for some reason. However, a 2 oz bottle costs about $4, or $256 per gallon! Although I'm sure it's a more refined product than gasoline, it has a similar odor. I used to be able to get 8 or 16 oz bottles for a fraction of the cost, but it's no longer available for whatever reason. br>br>One advantage of this valve oil is that I find I need to use it less frequently than I do with mineral oil-based valve oils. Valve oil with a petroleum base, such as Al Cass. Blue Juice appears to be able to be used in a variety of situations, unlike other valve oils that gum up when mixed with other valve oils. This stuff stinks, but it's the stuff to get if you want valves that just work, especially if you're lazy about oiling your horn.

This is the best valve oil I've ever used
5/5

This is the valve oil of choice for brass instrument players. I've been using this brand for nine years and haven't stopped raving about it since I first tried it. The bottle I received this time isn't the same as the one pictured, but it's still of excellent quality. My new bottle is a brilliant vibrant turquoise, whereas my old bottle is a very pale green, so it will discolor over time. It has by far the best odor of any valve oil on the market. And, in my experience, it keeps your valves piled for longer while not leaving stains on them like a lot of other brands do if you leave the oil on them for too long.
