How Our Score Is Calculated

Product Description

The product is of good quality and is simple to operate.
The Bach 2942 will restore tuning slides in a clean, tidy, and efficient manner.
Instrument assembly and use will be a lot easier with the tuning slide and cork grease.

Questions & Answers

Is this a thick waxy slide product or a thin valve oil?

Valves don't need oil. This is the tuning slide's lubricant.

Is there a way to use this as a cork grease? The selmer tuning slide and cork grease are nowhere to be found. Is this the same stuff we've been talking about?

The formula you're thinking of, the one with a color similar to this, is no longer manufactured by Selmer. They do make a tube formula called cork and tuning slide grease, but it's more like cork grease than the other stuff.

It's a LOT of stuff
5/5

I've had and played a Bach since I was in eighth grade (yes, it was a graduation present), and when I saw this, I knew I had to give it a try. The bottle is attractive, with a locking cap, and the application is precise, thanks to the small hole in the applicator tip and the grease's thickness. A small amount goes a long way in this case. I don't think I'll ever be able to finish this bottle. It's great for tuning, but it's too thick for my first and third valve slides to "kick out" while playing because of its thickness. I tried thinning valve oil in my valve slides but couldn't get it thin enough to play with. It gets a five star rating because it's labeled as tuning slide grease rather than slide grease. You'll need a different grease if you need to grease anything other than your tuning slide and want to move your valve slides while playing.

I took a chance on this Bach product because I was running out of the chapstick-looking grease tube that came with my beginner trumpet
5/5

(Muslady) I'm glad I bought this product; I used it for the first time yesterday and noticed that I only used a small amount of it (literally a drop) to complete all of the slides. Even if I apply twice a month, this could last me for a year or more. Like the one I was using, there was no residue left. Even on this off-brand trumpet, after applying, all of my slides move much more smoothly. I also used it on my Yamaha 2335 trumpet, which I got from a pawn shop. Excellent results once again. Unfortunately, this product will not magically improve my trumpet skills. (Or is it going to?.

A better bottle requires a better grease
5/5

Grease that is really good. I used to use a different brand, but the plastic bottle would always become brittle and crack before I could finish it. In an expensive trumpet case, it makes a huge mess. I was intrigued by the Bach Grease and decided to give it a try. Wow. My tuning slides are almost as good as trombone slides at this point. This product appears to be cleaner, and any excess easily wipes away. I examined the bottle's plastic composition and found it to be significantly superior. This implies that the bottle should last as long as the contents. I've had a Bach trumpet for many years, but this is the first time I've seen it. I'm guessing it's a brand-new product? It appeals to me greatly.

For more than three decades, this has been my go-to slide grease
5/5

I'm a trumpet player who makes a living doing what I love. I've been playing the trumpet for over 40 years and teaching for even longer. I'm ecstatic that my 15-year-old daughter is doing so well. year- My 12-year-old son is now a trumpet player as well. I got the slide grease as a stocking stuffer for him. It's always been my go-to grease for non-stick surfaces. Tuning and second valve slides (kick slides). It's nice and thick, and you don't have to reapply it in between cleanings. (Well, I suppose it depends on how frequently you clean your trumpet!) I try to do mine once a month at the most. ) Because it's so thick, it might work well on Kikick k slides, but I always dilute it with a little valve oil.

Good Grease, but Not the Best Overall, a great product that does the job and keeps my slides lubricated and moving
4/5

I'm not sure I'd use this product in the long run, though. When the insides of the slides are greased and warm, they are fairly quiet. However, cleaning the tuning slides to prevent buildup or just to clean them on a regular basis, applying new slide grease, and reinstalling it- There's grit in there somewhere. br>br>Perhaps it's my fault for not catching the dust, but I'd expect the grease to simply grease and move on. br>br>I used the grease on several tubas and got the same result every time; in any case, it's a good product, but I'm not sure I'd use it for years.

This book comes highly recommended
5/5

This stuff is fantastic! During practice and performance, the main tuning slide on my bass trombone, a King "Duo Gravis" 6B, would not stay in place. It moves very easily after a thorough cleaning and application of this product, but it stays put when I set my intonation. Since then, I've used this product on all of my other horns, and it still works great. This book comes highly recommended.

Too enticing
3/5

It's impossible to get this grease out of the bottle because it's too thick. Once it is on the horn, the slide does not move at all. There are thicker slide greases, such as Schilke, that are better. I threw it away.

It was purchased as a gift for a friend, and he absolutely adores it! My friend needed a slide grease to keep the tuning slide from moving inward while he was playing
5/5

I informed him of this type of slide grease and promised to get it for him. He likes it; it didn't completely stop him from pushing the slide inward, but it did slow it down enough for him to notice what he was doing and correct it.
