Everything you buy these days seems to be made thinner, lighter, and cheaper in order to make a few extra pennies. IN A CORK SCREW, ON THE OTHER HAND? The sides of this thing are so flimsy that you can see them almost collapsing as you twist the cork. I had an older version and couldn't believe how cheaply it was made when I compared it to this one. I know it's not a lot of money, and it's not a big deal, but I wouldn't have ordered it if I'd known what a piece of garbage it was. Make sure you don't throw your money away. Make a good product with it.
After only a few uses, it broke. It was disappointing.
To protect your hands, it has sharp edges where they should be smooth. Not in the least bit sturdy. You will not be happy if you purchase this opener.
This cheap corkscrew broke about three months after purchase (after the return window closed)br>Don't buy it.
As far as I can tell, you get what you pay for. The first time I used it, it fell apart. The wine bottle was not even opened by it.
Although it works, it is not as user-friendly as a better corkscrew. This is a low-cost corkscrew with a low-cost feel and performance. On one bottle of wine, it cracked the cork, and it was extremely difficult to screw into all of the corks we used it on. It works, but it's not the corkscrew I'd choose to use as my primary. When we go to our camp, I bought this one for our marina. We aren't big drinkers, but we do enjoy a glass of wine now and then, and this will suffice. At home, I prefer a higher-quality corkscrew that is more user-friendly and well-made.
Corks are easily broken. This is a situation where Amazon should simply pull the plug. I used it right out of the box and broke it because I couldn't get the cork out before it broke. I've had my bottle opener get stuck twice now while trying to open a bottle, and I've opened a lot of bottles of wine in my life. Invest $15-$20 A decent bottle opener will set you back $20. A shoddy bottle opener, it seems, equals a botched job. This is useful for popping bottle gaps, but that's it.
