As described, it works perfectly. My initial hesitancy to purchase this product was due to the fact that I was eating a lot of pineapple on weight watchers and I hated the pineapple preparation. There's no doubt this gadget makes life so much easier! The blade will begin to come out the side of the pineapple if you start crooked. It doesn't take long to pull it out, remove the bits, and start over. As long as the pineapple isn't too big, you might be able to finish it with a knife. It will save you from peeling off the pineapple rind completely! To date, I have used this device a number of times and have been pleased with the results.

After reading the reviews, I decided not to get one. After reading the reviews, I was looking for a device like this. This week I checked again and this one was included in an "upgrade. " So I went ahead and added it. There is a sense of quality to it that I find surprising. I'm very pleased with how easy it is to use and how well it performs. My only complaint is the same as it is with all of them. Keeping things clean. Taking the core out of the center piece after using the tool needs to be handled properly. When the core is stuck in the cutter, I use my knife sharpening steel rod to remove it. Once I placed mine upright on one of the longer plate holder rods in the bottom rack of my dishwasher, I placed it on the bottom rack of my dishwasher. You end up with a very clean product.
