There's nothing magnetic about it.
Mine doesn't make a beeping sound; instead, the light flashes. I'm not sure if the model I have is different.

This remote, double probe BBQ thermometer costs half as much as comparable models. Because of the following reasons: The receiver unit beeps loudly once every second while in operation to indicate that it is receiving the signal from the central unit. It's incredibly inconvenient and pointless. I only need to glance at the display to see where the signal is being picked up. It's a shame, because the range is far greater than any other unit I've ever owned, but that deep.
What a selection! However, it did not include meat!.
This was exactly what I needed. I didn't want a remote thermometer that relied on an app because I'd heard there were a lot of issues with them. For me, the old walkie-talkie system is sufficient. br>Excellent reception; I set up my kamado outside and was able to move around freely inside while it smoked. br>br>It's accurate and simple to use. It took some time to figure out how to adjust the custom temperature settings. I had to watch a YouTube video to figure it out, but I finally did. In my frustration, I contacted customer service, and I'm happy to report that they were extremely responsive and supportive, despite the fact that I figured it out on my own. A good signbr>br>Overall, a nice-looking and simple-to-use setup. I like how the meat probes are a little bent to accommodate the height restrictions. This is a nice touch. br>br>Overall, a fantastic buy for the money.
The temperature appears to be off despite the thermometer's great range to the handheld unit. It's impossible to cook rare beef at a lower temperature than 140 degrees. Our steak is already medium-rare when I remove it from the oven at 135°F. This isn't even rare! I'll test a less expensive unit I bought earlier to see if it's more accurate. My previous probe was precise and produced perfect steaks by delivering accurate temperatures. After over 15 years of service, it died. Sad. face!.
I received this about a week ago, and I've already cooked one roast and am currently grilling another. It's performing admirably. When the temperature reaches the set point, the alarm sounds. I'm not hearing a constant beep, as some have claimed, and it's been working perfectly so far. Two probes were all I needed. One for the meat and one for the temperature of the grill. That's all I need right now, and I'm grateful for it. I would strongly suggest it.
It's a good thermometer with a wireless display for the money. Because the beeps are extremely loud, you won't miss your target: Accuracy appears to be in the 2-percent range. The factory specs are 3 degrees off. In ice water, it's a few degrees above freezing, and in boiling water, it's a few degrees below freezing (adjusted for my altitude). You really can't go wrong for a hobbyist BBQer in terms of price and ease of use.
It's easy to put together right out of the box. The two probes and the ability to measure the temperature inside the smoker and inside the meat at the same time from inside the house were very appealing to me. I had to spend about 10 minutes going over and setting the temperature settings on both probes (not intuitive, and the only reason I gave it a 4 instead of a 5). I would still recommend it to my family and friends. Thank you for the obvious engineering and production process.
The transmitter only read one probe, and the receiver beeped incessantly as long as it was turned on.
