It should work for checking temperatures, but I'd rather use a glass thermometer that I could leave in the pot while making hard candy. The - This thermometer's robe would suffice, but I wouldn't want to rest my body on the pot's side for too long.
I haven't dropped mine yet, but it is water resistant, and I rinse it under running water after each use, so I believe it is.

It replaced a previous model I had purchased from Amazon, and this one is a much better product. br>I like how the display can flip to the correct orientation when I'm using it. When compared to my other thermometers, it not only reads accurately, but it also gives me an accurate temperature much faster. br>On a side note, I left this outside with the magnet in the handle attached to my grill for about 3 days and forgot to bring it inside. One of those days, we had all-day rain, and I assumed my new thermometer would be rendered useless. I went outside and flipped the probe out, and everything worked perfectly. My purchase was a great success.
Readings that are 100 percent accurate. So, I'm with the Salvation Army, and I bought this to compare it to our Old Fashioned Probe meat thermometers. When the thermometer arrived, I was taken aback by how much larger it was than it appeared on Amazon, but to be honest, it's a lot more comfortable to use. The display is a good size and easy to read. It's a lot faster than the probe thermometers. When compared to using old-fashioned probe thermometers, I can check twice as much meat. THIS IS AWESOME, and for the price, it's a no-brainer. I'm considering ordering another for use at a different Salvation Army center. Some of the cool features include the fact that it is magnetic. It's so simple to put on the fridge. If you're anything like me and enjoy cooking or barbecuing while sipping a cold beer, this item is even better because it includes a bottle opener. Too cool, in a way. I know it's supposed to be used for meat, but I've used it for pasta, vegetables, lasagna, and other things. to make sure they don't get into those dangerous temperature zones ServSafe Man is a fictional character. lol. The first thing I did with this thermometer was to test its accuracy against boiling water. This isn't exactly a scientific test because the boiling point of water is determined by a variety of factors (e. g. , the temperature of the water). , pressure, water purity, and so on. The thermometer, on the other hand, reads /-. It read just under 100 degrees C when the water was boiling, with a 1 degree accuracy for metric. That should be sufficient for determining when the meat has reached the desired temperature.
