When I used it for the first time, it broke. That's what I get for choosing the least expensive option. I'll have to think of a different way to open this wine bottle now.
The lateral force of twisting the corkscrew into corks bent the cheap metal flange through which the rivet was mounted, and the rivet popped out of the handle.
This was ordered to replace one that I received as a trade show giveaway at least five years ago. It's so badly made, with a ridiculously short blade and a cork pull pivot (I just made that up, but I figured you'd get it) that should have bent at the joint but didn't. Continue your search. This is of no use to anyone.
When used for the first time, the internal spring clip pops out of place. This clip is factory riveted in place and will not move back into place, making it broken and unusable on the first use. It's all nonsense.
I'd never considered owning a corkscrew until I saw one for the first time in my budget-conscious life. For a special occasion during my college years, someone brought over a bottle of mead. Well, I couldn't open that bottle, but I promised myself that this would never be an issue for me again. So I went ahead and ordered two corkscrews, one for me and the other for the mead bearer. Now that I've progressed to cooking with wine, I used this same corkscrew to open a bottle of Pinot Grigio for a soup I was making just two days ago. I told my roommate that I considered owning a corkscrew to be a significant step toward adulthood. He gave his approval. Thank you, corkscrew, for paving the way to my future.
It only takes two easy pulls of the black handle to uncork a bottle after it has been screwed in. It has been used over ten times and shows no signs of wear or tear; I expect it to last for hundreds of uses.
This type of corkscrew is referred to as a "two stage" corkscrew, and I've admired how well it works for the past dozen years or so. In that time, I've uncorked thousands of bottles of wine and only broken one cork. Yes, picking out small pieces of cork has been a distant memory for a long time - Jesus, I thank you! br>These are a great price, and shipping was quick! Go ahead and buy three or four of them, and give some to your wine-obsessed friends - They'll be grateful.
br>br>I really like how this corkscrew feels when opening a bottle; it's not like one of those cheap beer openers that keeps slipping when grabbing the bottle's teeth. I recently started getting into wine and watched a sommelier open a bottle of wine with one of these bad boys, and it was perfect every time. br>br>As for wine bottle opening, I recently started getting into wine and watched a sommelier open a bottle of wine with one of these bad boys, and it was perfect every time. br>br> Needless to say, I was smitten by the manual motion of opening a bottle and had to purchase one! Thank you! br>br>.
