For school lunches, this is a lifesaver! A++
5/5

Oh my goodness, this is the most brilliant idea I've ever heard of! My children are extremely picky about what they eat. Mac- Cheese is a staple in our house, and I've been trying to figure out how to send it to school with my children for years. This Thermos food jar, on the other hand, is the solution to all of my woes! It maintains the temperature of hot food for up to 5 hours!! Enough time for me to heat my child's meal in the morning and have it still be hot by lunchtime; cold items stay cold for 7 hours! The thermos is also very durable. I would highly recommend this to anyone with school-aged children. The price may appear high at first, but once you realize how much of a lifesaver it is, you won't even notice! I've already ordered a few more for family and friends. br>As an Amazon Prime member, I rely heavily on reviews to make informed purchases, so I hope this was useful. It is not prone to leaking
5/5

Maintains the temperature of food. It is not prone to leaking. I start packing at 7:00 a. m. , and the food is still hot at 1:00 p. m. The color appears to be slightly darker than in the photo, but this isn't a significant difference for me. We needed something small to fit in the back pack of our children, and this is perfect. It's about the same size as a can of soda, but it's a little shorter.

This thermos was purchased for my daughter, who has just started kindergarten and is a picky eater
5/5

It is ideal! It's the perfect size, neither too big nor too small, neither too wide nor too narrow, and it fits perfectly into her lunch bag. She struggles to open it, but the teacher or one of her classmates (depending on who sits next to her) assists her. Overall, it's a great thermos that keeps her food warm IF YOU FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS (fill and close with hot water for about 20 minutes, then empty the water and add your food). It's also very simple to clean; all I have to do is hand wash it with soap and water.

It's ideal for a young elementary school student
5/5

The C- is a favorite of my son's. The design is 3P0. For his lunch, it has enough Mac and cheese, pasta, and even cut up pancakes - he’s 6; A larger child may require a little more. I fill the thermos with hot water based on a review while I heat up the food and prepare the rest of his lunch; I'm sure his lunchbox/backpack gets tossed around after he leaves, but no leaks have occurred. It's simple to clean and will fit in a standard PB Kids lunch box with a juice box and a few snacks. To give you an idea of scale, here's a photo of a 12 oz can.

Lunches will be a breeze! I purchased two of these for my two sons, and they are a big hit! Around 7 a

m. , I've been making mac and cheese. We fill the thermoses with boiling water at 45 a. m. and set them aside for 5 hours. 10 minutes while the pasta cooks, and both boys say their mac n cheese is still warm at lunchtime (11:45). 11 and 15, respectively: 45). I would definitely buy from them again!.

It's effective- ish

2/20/19 Update: I returned it (at my expense) and received a replacement in the same color 2- It's now been three weeks. There will be no reimbursement for postage or a second one for my trouble. There was no acknowledgement of receipt or notification that a replacement had been sent. For whatever reason, more people seem to be complaining about the manufacturing issue with the "violet" version. Original: br>br>Original: br>br>Original: br>br>Orig br>In October 2018, I purchased two of these at the same time. br>br>In January 2019, I discovered that one of them had lost or never had a vacuum seal due to an inadvertent test. I filled them both with the same food at the same temperature, and after 4 hours, one was steaming hot and the other was at room temperature. I then confirmed the results by retesting with hot water. Thermos sent me a warranty return form the next day, but I still have to mail it in for a replacement (apparently the shipping is on me). br>br>While the five-year warranty is appealing, the shipping costs are prohibitive. This is a fantastic thermos
5/5

I read all of the reviews and recommendations before purchasing, and I believe these were one of the best impulse purchases of 2020. My kids couldn't warm up their lunches at school any longer, and they were getting bored with peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. Who, on the other hand, desires soup on a daily basis? So, as suggested by others, I boil water, fill them, and then cover them while I prepare breakfast and their lunches in the morning. I reheat their lunches (Little Smokies, pasta, baked potato, really anything) and place them directly in the (now-emptied) now-emptied now-emptied now-emptied now-emptied now-emptied now-emptied now-emptied now-emptied now-emptied now-emptied now-empt 5 hours later, their lunch is still hot after being placed in a hot thermos with the lid on. It appears that soaking in hot water for at least 10 minutes is sufficient. br>I also strongly advise removing the gasket and cleaning the inside of the lid's lip with a straw cleaner. After using the gasket multiple times per week for a couple of months, nothing gross has grown around it or inside the lid, and the gasket still looks brand new with no leaks. The stainless steel interior is easy to clean, and the colors are lovely (I bought two teals so my kids wouldn't fight over them, but I plan to buy more after Christmas). 'Cause, you know, variety).

I tested my thermos with both chili and soup, and neither of them stayed above 140 degrees for more than three hours
3/5

I boiled water in the thermos for 5 minutes before heating my soup/chili to 180 degrees. 190 degrees Fahrenheit. After 3 hours, the temperature had dropped to around 135 degrees (the food danger zone is between 40 and 45 degrees). After 5 hours, the temperature had dropped to 125 degrees (from 140 degrees). I just didn't feel comfortable sending these to school with my kids, who will be required to store their food for the entire 5 hour period.
