Questions & Answers

Do you think this would work with my large, 18" turkey platter, which is quite heavy? Who's going to use this for large platters?

I can't say for sure because I don't know how much it weighs, but I have a heavy plate on which I used two of the large ones and it's been up for three years. Perhaps you should contact the seller just to be sure.

Is this something that could be used on metal? I have a small metal tray that I would like to hang on the wall. ?

On metal items, Disc Plate Hangers are ineffective. This is due to the fact that metals oxidize, and the hanger sticks to the oxidized metal, which eventually separates from the plate. At room temperature, some metals, such as stainless steel and gold, do not oxidize very much, so they may work. People who hang metal trays have had varying degrees of success. If you want to hang a metal tray, make sure to clean it thoroughly and remove any oxidized metal from the area where the hanger will be attached. Some people have also told me they've used duct tape and monkey glue (which I strongly advise against).

What is the size of the plate?

Order: 5 inch hanger for plates up to 4 inches, 2 inch hanger for plates 4 to 6 inches, 3 inch hanger for plates 6 to 8 inches, 4 inch hanger for plates 8 to 12 inches, 25 inch hanger for plates up to 4 inches, 2 inch hanger for plates 4 to 6 inches, 3 inch hanger for plates 6 to 8 inches, 4 inch hanger for plates 8 to 12 inches For plates weighing up to 6 lbs., use a 5 inch plate.

Will this product adhere to the back of a porous, slightly textured tile?

This, I believe, would be a good idea. I've used them on a number of heavy ceramic bowls, plates, and other decorative items. The glue has a tremendous amount of tensile strength. This product has made my life so much easier! I always have something on hand.

In theory, it's a good idea, but in practice, it's a bad idea
3/5

This worked perfectly and lasted for a year-and-a-half. and-a- I didn't notice my plate was sideways on the wall until one day, when I noticed only about an eighth of an inch of the disc was holding my plate. It's a good thing I noticed because it would have broken eventually if I hadn't. Although the concept is intriguing, I can personally attest to the product's shortcomings. I'm going to stick with the $3 wire setup for now. As someone who lives in an earthquake-prone area, I have to wonder if there is a good product for that situation.

It was a great idea, but it didn't work out
3/5

It's clear from previous reviews that people have differing views on how well this product worked. The differences, I believe, are due to the disc's attachment to the different types of surfaces. In my case, it was a large decorative bowl that I attempted to hang. It was within the weight limit, and the bottom area was identical to the disk. However, it has a very slick surface, which I believe is the source of the problem. It's possible that a porous surface would have sufficed. br>br>I followed the directions to the letter. After waiting the recommended amount of time, the glue was just right, so I placed the disc on the bowl, checking for air pockets and smoothness. The disc was useless for my purpose by the morning because the glue had dried and the disc had become loose. br>br>Perhaps a note in the product description mentioning that slick surfaces could be a problem could be included. br>br>I'm thinking of using Gorilla tape to secure it.

I tried the last two, but they didn't work out
3/5

I had a lovely long fish plate that I used the medium yellow disk to hang on the wall. The dish was shattered when it fell off during the night. Years ago, I used them and had no issues with them, and I thought they were fantastic. That isn't the case any longer. I tried to hang something else, but it kept falling down. I'm not sure if I got ahold of some old ones or what the issue was, but I still have two left, which I'm afraid to use.

Plate hanger discs are a type of disc that is used to hold plates in place The numerous positive reviews for these plate discs gave me hope
3/5

Because I thought this was going to be a great thing, I ordered three times from two different sellers. I followed the instructions to the letter (cleaning the plate surface, mixing the glue with my finger and spreading it to the edges, applying the disc to a plate and letting it set for over 24 hours), and my initial reaction was, "This is great, I'll order more!" The first plate came off the wall after a week, and the disc came off after that. It didn't break because it was hung over a cupboard with a padded top. The other plate I hung near the first one remained on the wall until I removed it to re-hang it. Hang it on its own. The disc fell right off the plate when I removed it! So now I have to figure out how to return the discs, which will cost me around $40 after three orders. 00 in. I'm hoping that I won't have to pay for return shipping or anything like that.

Simple to work with
5/5

The grip is strong. For my plates, I only use this particular brand. It's simple to use and has a good grip. I've had these for a few years and have never had any issues with them. Much better than metal spring hangers, which can scratch your plates and aren't very attractive.

It's great, but make sure you read the instructions first
5/5

The instructions are very specific, so make sure you follow them to the letter. Despite the fact that my first attempt was a disaster, I was successful the second time around, using the same disc, of course. I'm confident that they'll work on just about anything because the plate I used it on is still hanging on the wall in a humid room.

It's nice and simple
5/5

I purchased this item after seeing it in a craft store. I was glad to see Amazon offered the item because they only had one on the shelf and I already had two plates at home. It's very simple to adhere and handle, even though I only had cheap plastic plates that didn't weigh much. I know it's rated for heavier plates, but if I had an expensive plate, I'd go with the traditional plate wall hanger, but it worked perfectly for me.

I used these to hang three plates, and they lasted for about a week
3/5

I used three of these to hang three plates, and they lasted about six months. 7 months. br>A crash and shattered glass jolted us awake one night. We were afraid that someone had broken into our house. Instead, it was our limited edition Jeff Koons plate, which retailed for over $600. The Hermes and Warhol plates were quickly removed, but the Koons plate was shattered into 100 pieces. I'm not sure how to get back because the deadline has passed.
