Yes, at the point where it latches onto something. My plates are white, so yes, but if your plate is colored, you won't be able to see anything. Excellent work!!
With my six 11-inch plates that I hung in the kitchen, these hangers worked perfectly.

I would not recommend this product; I purchased multiple packs and am extremely disappointed. They came in a package with a size range of 10 to 14 inches; Despite the fact that they are in the same pack, they are not the same size. I have two identical plates, one of which fits but the other does not. Also, the wire hooks that are supposed to grip over the plate edge are covered in plastic. The coverings aren't made of clear plastic. They have a milky white color to them and are visible. They also cause the hooks to fall out of the plate and the hanger to fall off. Because of this issue, I am hesitant to hang my antique plates. Because the hanger isn't curved out far enough, a very large picture hanging hook must be used, or the plate will tip over when hung. I have a set of display hangers that I bought 20 years ago and they work perfectly on my other plates. Because I've never had a problem before, I assumed they were all the same. I'm guessing the ones I bought were made before the "Made in China" craze took hold. I purchased these to avoid having to go to the hardware store; I can see how it was a blunder.
I bought several of these to use in my breakfast room to display my antique plates. I want to make sure they'll last because my plates are worth more than $1,000. Each. They're carrying out their duties.

The hangers were purchased to be used with plate chargers that I had previously decorated. They are the most effective means of securing a plate to a wall. I'm going to buy more.
