Questions & Answers

Are these made in China, and how do you know they don't contain any lead?

Thank you very much for your inquiry. Our lead-free glass carboys come from Italy. free. Thanks!

In this carboy, what size rubber stopper should I use?

Thank you for taking the time to contact us. For the five gallon glass carboys, a 7 rubber stopper or a small universal bung works well.

Is this bottle equipped with a dispensing valve?

Is there a dispenser valve? I'm not sure what you're getting at, but it's not accompanied by anything else. There wasn't even a hat on her head. You can either lift it onto a ceramic dispenser or purchase a pump and leave it on the floor. Or maybe they'll make a cap with a spigot and handle that you can tilt on one of those racks to pour it out. I use a ceramic dispenser, but lifting it up and carefully placing it on it is quite difficult. GL!

Is it a piece of glass or is it a piece of plastic?

This is glass, and it's a lot of it.

Glass at a discount! I don't think I can give it a low enough score
3/5

I was racking 5 gallons of wine when I heard a loud noise that I couldn't identify. I went to pick up the carboy from the ground where I had siphoned it to put it on the counter a few minutes later, and it broke. The floor was covered in 5 gallons of wine, which cut the top of my foot. Glass of a low price. This product should not be used!!.

Glass of a low price
3/5

This is a low-cost item. My first use of the carboy resulted in it breaking. Fortunately, I had just finished transferring my beer and was about to place the carboy in the sink when I heard a loud noise and realized the bottle had cracked in the neck. When I moved the bottle, it was empty. I didn't slam it or hit it with anything. Or it could just be cracked.

Excellent value for money in terms of utility and appearance
5/5

I now have two of these in my collection. It's a fantastic product. In order to reduce my plastic exposure and improve my health, I began purchasing my water from a local purifier store. I have a crock-pot on the stove. I added one of these on top of a style ceramic water dispenser. It's a cinch to use. It appears to be lovely. It's a lot of fun to use. According to the packaging, this item is made in Italy. br>br>To properly cap it, I purchased plastic "milk jug" style caps from my local water store, which fit plastic 5 gallon jugs but also work well here. Not quite plastic, but close. It's not quite free, but it's close. br>br>The company does a good job of packaging the product, using a lot of bubble wrap and a double layer of cardboard. I'm sure these break occasionally during shipping, but I'm confident the seller would handle it. I'm 2 for 2 so far, and I'm thinking about buying another one soon. br>br>These are noticeably heavier than their plastic counterparts when filled with water. However, if you do the math, it only adds about ten pounds to your total weight. A gallon of water weighs about 45 pounds. The jug is 11 pounds in weight. And, at the time of writing, these are only $10 to $15 more expensive than a plastic jug. It was well worth it.

It's perfect for a water cooler, but it's a little heavy
4/5

This jug was bought to store water for my bottom-feeding dog. filling up the water cooler Aside from the fact that it is quite heavy when fully loaded, I am extremely pleased with my purchase. I recommend getting a carrier strap for it if you purchase one. Lifting the jug becomes much easier and safer as a result of this. As a point of reference, I am a fairly well-educated individual. with the accompanying strap, she is a tall woman in good shape who can easily lift a full jug If you are elderly or in poor physical condition, however, you should consider another option.

There will be no more
3/5

This carboy is extremely delicate, and the first one I ordered broke after only a few weeks of use. A massive crack appeared around the base, and water began to leak everywhere. I ordered a replacement, but it was damaged when it arrived. This is the last time I'll buy this item.

It was simple to fill with water
5/5

To seal the bottles, I purchased corks. I'm stocking up on water in case of an emergency, and with the state of the world today, you can never be too prepared. br>br>I'm thinking of using one to make wine; my brother used to make wine by covering the opening with a balloon and adding sugar and yeast; unfortunately, he used regular grape juice; I'm sure that's a bad recipe, but it shows how simple it can be. br>br>Because this is glass, you can't accidentally bump into hard objects like cement and then complain. Again, it's glass, so proceed with caution. br>I was a little nervous about filling such a heavy container with water, but it went without a hitch. I carried the first bottle I filled to the storeroom, but it made me too nervous, so I transported it to my emergency storeroom using a chair with wheels. br>br>It was a huge success!.

Although disappointed, I was not surprised
3/5

I'll either learn to pay more attention to the negative reviews or stop ordering from Amazon altogether one day. I've purchased numerous glass carboys over the years, but it appears that the quality of the merchandise has deteriorated significantly since I began ordering them online. I've often noticed minor flaws in the glass, but I've always dismissed them as insignificant. A crack appeared in one of my carboys a few weeks ago, and now I'm beginning to think twice about these "minor" flaws. I'm starting to believe that many of these products should never have left the factory and ended up in the hands of the customer. I gave it two stars because the packaging was excellent.

Excellent for brewing at home! When ordering a glass product online, it's difficult not to feel a little nervous
5/5

When it arrived, however, it was clear that my concerns had been unfounded. The item was well-packaged and of good quality. There are no chips, cracks, or other flaws, and the stopper size listed is correct. If you're going to use it for home brewing, you'll need a good long carboy or decanter brush to clean it. When the carboy carrier is full, it is also useful. It's held up well to the daily abuse that comes with home brewing, and I'm confident I'll get many more years out of it as long as I don't drop it on the cement floor of our basement! The price, combined with the fact that it came with free shipping, sealed the deal for me at the time, and I would highly recommend it.
