I prefer to consume only half of a high-alcohol beverage. I used 2 grams of powdered dextrose, also known as glucose or "corn sugar," in imprecise beer circles in 48 of these 6 oz bottles, which is double the 2. 1 gram per 12 ounces (1/2 cup per 5 gallon) is the recommended amount. After two weeks, however, the carbonation appeared normal, if not low. So I tried 2 grams honey and it seemed about the same (despite honey having only 75% usable sugars%). After that, I experimented with 5 grams of honey, and the results are documented in my video. The beer was at room temperature, so I didn't shake it and took my time opening it. Under almost any yeast-induced conditions, I don't think these bottles will break. They are thick bottles, but their real strength comes from the fact that they are half or 1/3 the radius of a large wine bottle, because a 1/3 radius means 1/3 the amount of tension in the glass for the same internal pressure. Breakage is determined by the amount of tension in the glass (force per area parallel to sides, not perpendicular like internal pressure), which is equal to the internal perpendicular pressure times radius divided by glass thickness.
They're all perfect, in the sense that they're all the same. The bottles are clear and heavy, which I like. These aren't light by any stretch of the imagination, so they're not going to last a lifetime. There was no damage in the double packaging (Amazon box followed by product box). There's also a mention of quick shipping. I'm thinking about buying more once I've used up this bunch.
These were ideal for using with our homemade sauces - I wish there was a size option for corks so I wouldn't have to guess, but the bottle is made of a sturdy thick glass that can withstand a little rough handling.
Environmentally friendly, inexpensive, and simple. Plus, if I have any leftover sparkling wine after opening a bottle, I can put it in these bottles and it will keep perfectly. We've been leaving sparkling wine/water in them for weeks and they're still as good as when they were first opened.
The size is ideal, and shipping is quick.
