After reading the reviews on water resistance, I decided to clean mine with alcohol wipes. It doesn't get wet at all because I don't get it wet. This is the most fundamental unit.
No, there are no pre-programmed settings; it is a temperature probe, after all. On the back of the package, however, there is a sticker with different doneness ranges for various meats.
You swap it out for something else.

It wouldn't turn on when I took it out for the third time. I bought another battery, thinking it might have been the problem. I've tried several different batteries, but it still won't turn on. I emailed customer service twice to see if there was anything I could do, and neither time did I receive a response. I would not have felt compelled to write a negative review if I had received a simple response.
I noticed that this was a more recent version of a well-known product. I decided to take a chance, even though there were few reviews at the time, and the first item only lasted a couple of days. I assumed it was a lemon and returned it to Amazon for a replacement. The second one only lasted a week or two before succumbing to the same fate (it would turn on but most of the digit segments would not display). br>br>THE END RESULTS: Take a look around.
The thermometer was simple to read and use, and it appeared to be fairly accurate. We used it to check the temperature of meat on the grill, so the length came in handy. However, avoid using it near water if possible. Water splashed the handle while I was cleaning it by hand. Despite the fact that I did not submerge it at any point (the thermometer does not claim to be waterproof), water got into the digital read part and it stopped working.
I go back to the directions after a failed batch of Peanut Brittle and see that they only state that they are accurate to 212 degrees! I also needed to reach a temperature of 305 degrees, which is the Hard crack stage. I'm sure it's a good meat thermometer, but if you're making candy, which they clearly claim to be but aren't, don't bother. Time was wasted, and an entire batch of Peanut Brittle was thrown away!.
I bought the KTKUDY Large LCD Meat Thermometer at the same time to compare the two. KTKUDY appeals to me more. The numbers on the ThermoPro are too small to read without glasses, but those on the KTKUDY are easy to read. The ThermoPro's buttons are difficult to understand, and the labels are small. People, this isn't a difficult gadget. You should be able to turn it on with your hands, stick it in food, and read the temperature with your glasses. There are three buttons on this thing! They're in a jumbled order, and they're all the same size, so who knows which one turns it on and which will cause you to lose your reading? To summarize, this thermometer is overly complicated, difficult to use, and difficult to read. I have a feeling the designer didn't think about usability for more than 15 minutes. This is not a good idea. The tip on the ThermoPro, by the way, is far too long and sharp. I'm afraid it'll break, and the surface area is too small to accurately measure temperature. The tip on the KTKUDY is almost perfect in terms of dimensions - sufficient sharpness but sufficient size to obtain a reliable temperature reading However, I'd be remiss if I didn't point out that the KTKUDY appears to be a low-cost consumer item, whereas the ThermoPro has a higher build quality and appears to be more sturdy and professional. It has a strong magnet on the back (which is useless in my kitchen because all of the metal surfaces are stainless steel). ) You have the option of choosing which is more important to you: Usability or construction quality are two important factors to consider.
My younger sibling- This was ordered by law for himself, and he didn't double-check the shipping address. Instead, it showed up on my mother's doorstep just before Mother's Day. Of course, she assumed it was a present for her! So my husband and I come over to cook a Mother's Day barbecue for mom, and she shows him her new thermometer, which he uses later that evening. He likes it so much that he orders one for himself, and I tell my sister how much my mother and I enjoy "mom's" new meat thermometer and how well it worked for her Mom's dinner. My sister had to laugh and tell us that it wasn't really intended for Mom, but she's glad she liked it! My sister placed a second order for their family, as well as a third one for themselves. I double-checked that it was going to the right place. This thermometer is now in the hands of everyone in the family!.
First and foremost, this thermometer is terrifyingly precise. I've put it through a lot of abuse, and it's held up well. I use it four times a day. My GF uses it at least 5 times a week on the grill, and I use it a lot more than that. It's simple to read thanks to the orange backlight and black numbers. It quickly registers the temperature. It's truly incredible. Excellent craftsmanship. Cleaning is a breeze. It's a good idea to use a rubber tip so you don't accidentally impale yourself while flaunting it to your friends while inebriated. The ergonomics and rubbery lining ensure a good grip or placement every time. br>br>Look at these mother frigging porkchops. Those two birds are divine. I'm not even going to bring up the steak. Every time, every time, perfect meat.
First and foremost, this device is extremely accurate: within 0. Using a standardized mercury thermometer, set the temperature to 2 degrees Fahrenheit. Second, the operations are simple and easy to understand. To keep your hand away from hot food and cooking surfaces, this probe is nice and long. Magnets are great for keeping in the kitchen (on the fridge) or on the cool surfaces of a grill (if you have one, which most do not). br>br>In the last few years, I've tried a few other brands (mostly cheaper) and found them to be inaccurate and inconvenient to use (e. g. , probes that aren't too long) br>br>An earlier model of this device failed after 6 months of moderate use, but this current model has been used for 6 months and is still going strong. 8 meals per week (July-September) 3 (November 2020) and 4 meals per week (until December 2020) is no problem. I kept it up to date for the past six months.
