Questions & Answers
The longer you leave it to set, the more difficult it will be to open! The CO2 will build up until it's nearly impossible to open or explode, which is why you should "burp" the bottles every few days to relieve any pressure.
No, it isn't rated for pressure.
Hello Jonathan,br>br>You are welcome to use the high-resolution version of the image. I would recommend using the hole-in-the-wall gaskets as well. Some of our customers have reported that using the hole-in-the-wall style gaskets has caused them to leak. Because the style gaskets are thicker, they produced more fizz in their kombucha. br>br>If you have any further questions, please let me know. These are fantastic for doing a second fermentation of water kefir. I tried another brand with shorter, squatter bottles, but I prefer these. They're simple to open and close, and they do an excellent job of allowing carbonation to accumulate. I've never had a bottle break, but I've had a little explosion when the carbonation builds up too much. They fit perfectly inside Pringles containers, and I taped together a few Pringles containers to make a small carrier that I put in a cloth bag to give to my family. To clean them, I ordered a long bottle brush from Amazon, but most of the time, if you rinse it out right away after using it, you won't need to use the bottle brush, which is a pain. br>br>I've even purchased these as a present for a friend who began making her own water kefir after I introduced her to it.
It is not safe to ferment! I was fortunate in that I read some of the reviews before using my swing top bottles and decided to inspect them first. Every single bottle in my collection has dozens of small air bubbles. I was expecting fermentation-quality swing-top bottles, but I didn't get them. DO NOT FERMENT IN BOTTLES THAT HAVE AIR POCKETS IN THEM. It's extremely dangerous, and it'll turn a regular fermentation into a bottle bomb. br>br>I was expecting ceramic caps as well, but instead received plastic. I'm not concerned about this detail, and I wouldn't return them if it were the only flaw in the order. It's possible that different sellers exist and I received a lemon, but be cautious when purchasing from this seller and return any bottles with dangerous air pockets.
It appeared to be the ideal container for a holiday drink giveaway. It's a good thing we did a taste test because the top literally exploded like a bullet, scattering shards of glass all over the place. I'll do my best to track down this manufacturer and figure out how to get in touch with Amazon. Amazon wishes you a happy holiday season.
Thanks for the business! I received these bottles in a timely manner, and I really like the shape of them; they're easier to clean, and they take up less refrigerator space. Only 5 extra gaskets were sent to me instead of 6. This is my first time using these bottles, and my kombucha has turned out to be quite fizzy. The clamp wires are thinner than those on my other flip top bottles, which I like. They're more convenient to open, and I'm hoping they'll last. They'll, I believe, succeed. My purchase has satisfied me. The vendor sent me an email thanking me for buying the bottles and inquiring about my satisfaction. I'd like a few of these 32oz bottles. *Update. br>br> The vendor gave me a credit for the one missing gasket from the bottles (I didn't ask for or request a credit because I was so pleased with the bottles). This company and its products appeal to me greatly. It was a pleasure to work with this company. This is a company from which I will purchase more bottles.
Look. no more. On Amazon, these are THE BEST fermenting bottles. These are the best bottles I've tried for my second water kefir ferment. I just got them two days ago, and there's already more carbonation in them than in the batch I bottled earlier this week in a different brand bottle. br>br>They arrived in good condition, carefully packaged with multiple layers of bubble wrap and cardboard. br>br>When I first started fermenting, I fell for the fake reviews that distributors of low-cost, low-quality products will pay for, and ordered chefstar or Zuzumo or some other brand with the orange seal. Except as vases, they were nearly worthless when they arrived. The wire was thin, bent, and misshapen, and the caps, which were made of light plastic, were also misshapen! I was so dissatisfied that I couldn't even get a seal, and my water kefir took FOREVER to carbonate. br>br>After seeing some unboxing videos of the Otis bottles, I decided to give them a try, and I'M SO GLAD I DID! When I took the first one out of its bubble wrap cocoon, the clouds parted, the sun shone, and the heavenly hosts sang. The glossy finish on the ceramic lid makes it easy to see if there's any crud that needs to be cleaned off (I'm a sanitation freak when it comes to fermenting). The high-pressure seals are fantastic for carbonation because they appear to work faster. I've seen cases where people's bottles have exploded, and I'm sure any bottle would if put under enough pressure. I'll be keeping a close eye on how long I let these ferment and build up pressure because the seal is so tight that it could happen. br>br>I also saw on the site that you can be a brand ambassador, and I want to be clear that I am not one. I just want to save another fermenter the agony I went through. Now I just need to figure out what I'm going to do with the orange seal bottles. vases. Maybe it's just a fun way to bottle filtered water.
