Questions & Answers

Would you please tell me the width of the knife. I plan to buy a nonglobal block for storage of the knife. ?

The maximum width of the wing is In the vicinity of "2" is what it is

Do you think this knife would be a good choice for cutting squash with thick skin, such as Hokkaido and hubbard, or would a Global cleaver be more appropriate? Thanks a lot. ?

Without a doubt! Its blade is sharp enough to chop all thick-skinned vegetables, but still heavy enough to handle them, but still very sharp for dicing as well. The knife can be used in so many ways that a cleaver cannot.

If it's not a single bevel specifically designed for lefties, should I buy a double? I'm buying it for a lefty, so unless the company makes a single bevel made specifically for lefties, I need a double. ?

You're good to go with this, since it's a double bevel. Years ago I purchased this for myself, and I've bought it for friends as gifts and no one has ever complained about it.

A chef's knife is generally the best tool to use when cutting If this knife is used for this task, what are the advantages it has over a chef's knife?

prefer the smaller size of this over my chef's knife for dicing vegetables, and if I have to use brunoise cuts, this is more precise than my chef's knife.

This knife is great for cutting up vegetables
5/5

bought a vegetable knife after seeing the Pioneer Woman using it to cut up fruit and vegetables. My wife is always cutting fruit and vegetables up. The Global steel & iron Company is a great company I really like Since I do not have knives, I bought this one from A knife like this is extremely sharp straight out of the box. In my tests I sliced a tomato with it and there was no tearing of the Easy to understand why this type of knife is so popular. It has a great handle and ergonomics. I have found that my wife has become accustomed to using this Knives to knife. * I have some old Global knives and noticed that the G-type blades are less sharp than other knives. Seven Vegetable Knife is not as thick as it used to be. This knife is about 20% thinner than my old Global 6" chef knife, and even 20% thinner than my old Global 8" carving knife. The steel is still the best in the industry. It has been my experience that this type of steel holds an edge exceptionally well, and is also able to be sharpened It was sharpened in a short time If you would like to put this in the dishwasher, I would not recommend it because it A clean environment As well as being easy to clean, this type of steel is fast and easy to install. Despite that, I still believe that Global makes the best kitchen knives, and I consider them to be a good purchase.

It is awesome, thanks! It's great, thank you! A lot of people use it
5/5

In addition to the 7" knife, I got both the 8" and the 12". It is a medium size pair of hands for me The 5 is my favorite. It is much better to have a 5" knife. As for the cost, it is much less, so if you are on the fence, I can say that I have tried both for my medium hands and prefer this one. It's a 7" knife with a wider blade, and I use it for cake, ha ha, but I like the smaller one for vegetables. These two knives are amazing, though I don't think they can be put in the dishwasher. This is not a problem for me since I use mine every day and just get up and re-charge You should use it I find this resource to be a great asset as I begin my With this knife, everything is cut with ease and precision. It is especially great for greens and hard to slice items. Just keep your hands away from the blade. My secret is simple I know how to find it! This knife is just what I was looking for to sharpen when needed, and I hope to use it in the future!.

Yes, I agree! I recommend buying it
5/5

As a Christmas present, I bought my husband this Vegi knife and he is thrilled with it! It was the first Global knife we bought. He used it five times over the last two weeks and praised it every time. It went from blunt to sharp in no time. The product is easy to use, and it requires little maintenance. This knife would be better suited for bushcrafters as the blade is shorter than expected ( see picture w/reference) but it still makes a great gift. Before using this knife, it is essential to read the instruction manual to ensure proper sharpening. A second Global is definitely in the cards.

For the entire length of my career, I've worked in the restaurant industry
5/5

This is the best knife I've ever seen. At home I use this knife, not in a professional kitchen, and I am blown away by its performance. For the entire length of my career, I've worked in the restaurant industry. This is the best knife I've ever seen. My experience with knives has taken me through almost every brand, both at home and in my professional position, Shun knives, Global knives, Wusthof knives, Henckel knives, etc, and I really like this particular Global knife. With my Chef's knife and this one, I am able to do 95% of my kitchen work with either one of them. Vegetable knives such as this one are great for slicing, but can also rock chop. You should keep in mind that this is not a chef's knife, and it should not be used as one. Using this knife to break apart chicken is never going to be an option. Nevertheless, if you want to get some vegetable preparation done with speed and ease, then this is the knife for you.

As light as you can
5/5

The contrast is incredible. I love how precise and well-written it is. It is balanced. As light as you can. The contrast is incredible. I am impressed with how precise and evenly balanced it is- When I hold it by the handle or by the neck where the blade and handle meet, I can either hold it by the handle or by the neck. It is like a dream to use this knife. No matter what vegetable you're cutting, slicing, or julienning, the blade cuts through it easily. Easily speeds up prep work (and makes it more enjoyable). I also found that it was reasonably priced as compared with other knives I had been looking at, like Shun, Kyocera, etc. This knife was sharper out of the box than my ceramic knives as well. When I pounded garlic with it, I didn't think twice about its metal construction, which is not brittle ceramic. When it was wet, I was worried the handle would be a real struggle. neither one nor the other. There were no problems with gripping the handle since it is very comfortable. While I am not a professional chef, I rather enjoy cooking at home and make sure the tools I need are available. This knife is amazing!! I am in love with it! Size 5 1/2" is probably going to be the most convenient for me. I am going to get the GS5 now that I like it so much. For large jobs, there is a 7inch option. My mom will also be getting a set from this store. There have been so many positive reviews about these knives. It's hard for me to understand why I used to be so skeptical. I love you!.

Is this a defect in the Global knife? It was a great knife up until I bought it less than a year ago
3/5

Now the blade has all these little chip marks in it and it is unable to hold an In the past, I have not put my dishes in the dishwasher but have always washed them by hand. The Global ceramic knife sharpener that I use on my other Global knives is also the only one I use to sharpen it. I first bought this knife and it was so sharp after the first use my wife wouldn't even touch it now it isn't so sharp.

There should be a commission for Anthony Bourdain
4/5

His mention of this knife brand as an affordable alternative in Kitchen Confidential never left me. While it's still a bit expensive for me, it's the sharpest knife I have and this enables me to slice ginger thinly and make soup in a much better way. The fact that it is made of one piece of metal appeals to me. Despite being slick in wet weather, it does not slip. Slicing frozen fish and meat, as well as the vegetables and scallions, was part of my preparation. Even though I feel like I have betrayed economism by purchasing this, it was an enjoyable experience nevertheless. I was finally compelled to buy this after success with a recipe in Fuzzy Dunlop's Sichuan cookbook. Though I have gotten some pretty bad cuts from this knife, I am thoroughly enjoying it. Compared to other styles, the price here was not quite as high, so I thought it was a good deal despite the price being less than 10 dollars more than the next smaller size. My purchase of more cutting boards is a result of it being so good. Since I've purchased this knife, I use it for all dishes and it has greatly simplified food prep and cooking for me.

Like Global, there is no other knife like it
5/5

A total of six different models have been collected. Like Global, there is no other knife like it. It looks like a razor blade on my blades, and I have collected six different models, as well as the Minosharp sharpener. It takes an edge easily, and keeps it for a reasonable amount of time. However, with the Minosharp, sharpening is such a breeze that it isn't a problem at all. The model I have for dicing and chopping vegetables is the best of all that I have.
