Mason jars are one of my favorite things and I use them for everything EXCEPT actual canning. The metal lids you get with the cans rust over time as you use and clean them. My hands hurt when I find rust on them, so I discard them, but it drains my wallet to buy replacement metal lids every time. I finally figured out these plastic replacement lids are available and I am so glad I did!.
Adding a parenthesis at the end mentions they're wide mouth lids, but the product title says they're regular mouth lids. What is it then? It appears to be wide. As a replacement for a setup of wide lids I had purchased by mistake, I ordered these. That is a useless, misleading statement.
It was nice to get them, though! It doesn't leak at all, even if the jar is turned Besides being incredibly tough, they are also extremely well made. It's exactly as they say it is. I love these people.
This lid will be perfect if you are using your canning jars for various storage purposes since they will not rust like the canning lids, especially if you plan to wash the jars in the dishwasher. Even though it should go without saying that they are not intended for actual canning, I will nonetheless say it.
It would have been easier to store coffee in wide mouth mason jars in the refrigerator if they had been fitted with an appropriate lid. I used these lids for my wide mouth Ball mason jars, and they fit perfectly. It does seem they are leak-proof, at least as far as regular use goes, and my coffee did not taste like the fridge. That's exactly what I was looking for!.
wide mouthed lids fit my jars perfectly. The first thing I did when I got them was to shake my jar with a LITTLE bit of water and it leaks like a sieve (which As long as I don't keep it in my refrigerator, I will keep it as I do not really take stuff with me on the go. However, it does.
For my summer drinks, I really like the canning jar mugs with the glass handles. In addition to being able to seal my mug from spills and insects, I also find it extremely convenient. In the beginning, our plastic tops were made by Chinese manufacturers, and they came in bright colors and had a thumb grip to open and close them. As it turns out, seals made of silicone prevented leaks in these lids. However, the extra friction makes it difficult to remove the lid, and the lids need to be taken off It is impossible for the Chinese lids to remain leak-proof without the silicone seal. Ball lids, however, are beveled and do not have a detachable seal, but rather seal against the jar with a beveled ring. The lid comes off without any noticeable friction as it seals perfectly while being smooth enough to not cause any friction when removing it. So, let me summarize No, they are more expensive. I am afraid that bright colors will not be available. However, I believe it will be much easier We will keep the Chinese lids, without the seals, for storing dry goods that do not require watertight seals.
