How Our Score Is Calculated

Product Description

By entering your model number, you can make sure that this fits.
The built-in scale on the OXO Brew Conical Burr Coffee Grinder measures grounds by weight rather than time, removing the need for a separate scale; automatic shutoff ensures a consistent amount of ground coffee every time.
Durable stainless steel conical burrs with a diameter of 40 mm produce uniform grounds in up to 38 settings, ranging from fine for espresso to coarse for French press or cold brew coffee.
The low-speed, high-torque motor won't overheat the beans, preserving their flavor and producing minimal static for less mess. Overheating protection is built-in, ensuring that the motor lasts a long time.
Switch between Cups Mode, Grams Mode, and Manual Mode using the single dial. In Cups mode, you grind according to how many cups of coffee you want to make.
If the hopper is empty, the no-bean detector will not allow you to grind.
The hopper holds 16 ounces of coffee beans and has a "trap door" that keeps the beans in place when the hopper is removed. The grounds keeper can hold up to 125 grams of ground coffee, which is enough to make 12 cups of coffee.

Questions & Answers

Anyone else have problems with their grinder not working after calibrating, cleaning, and turning it on, for example?

Yes . This is the first time OXO has sent me a replacement. The second grinder had the same problem after about a year. I've had it for about a year and a half, but it's no longer covered under warranty. For a $200 grider, this is extremely inconvenient. I recently placed an order for a new grinder from a different manufacturer.

Has this ever been used to grind espresso? What is the consistency and size of the grind?

The consistency of the and the size of the grind are both well-controlled. Espresso particles are the same size and uniformity as those found in commercial products from Illy, Lavazza, and others. This also applies to the coarser grind settings.

What is the container's height? Is it possible to fit a 5" Aeropress container beneath the nozzle?

The container is 3 and 3/4 inches tall, plus or minus 1/16 inch. Between the top of the container and the grinder's dispersal point, there is about a quarter-inch of clearance.

I've had burr grinders where the grounds became stuck between the burrs and in the chute leading to the grounds container. Is this something that happens?

So far, I've been using this grinder with ground coffee instead of whole beans. The finer ground gets stuck in the chute and burr, but they're easy to shake out by tapping the container's side. So far, I've been very happy with the product.

It is not worth the money because it is poorly designed
3/5

We've had this grinder for a few years, but we're looking for something new right now. This grinder is a complete nightmare! I noticed it was throwing grounds all over the place when we first got it. When I contacted OXO about it, they said it was "industry standard for this type of grinder. " " Seriously, they didn't even try to fix it. " Looking at all of the online reviews and photos of people who have solved the problem by using a taller receptacle, I'm not sure how this company hasn't figured out how to fix it. They could have easily fixed it, but it didn't matter to them. We now have greasy coffee bean stains all over the counter and behind the grinder on the window blinds. br>br>But this isn't the only flaw in this grinder. It also comes to a halt several times throughout the grind. It's not as simple as setting it and forgetting about it. I also got in touch with OXO about it. They informed me that I would have to clean it. It makes no difference whether or not it is clean. When it's clean, it can last a little longer, but it can't get through a single grind session without jamming and stopping. Again, I'm baffled by OXO's inability to resolve the issue. Now I have to stand next to the grinder with the lid off, using a thin spatula to keep the beans from jamming the path. OXO could have easily added a feature that did this for me so I didn't have to stand there and do it manually. br>br>I'm not sure how long they've been making this grinder, but there were no reviews about these issues when we bought it a few years ago. When I called OXO, they were uninterested and offered no solutions (besides cleaning). I'm surprised at how many reviews there are now that have the same issues. This thing isn't worth $200 at all! It's not a good idea to purchase it. These issues must be addressed by OXO. It's a complete waste of money (as well as your time).

It's a piece of garbage - STAY AWAY, as my wise counsel suggests! This grinder is a complete disaster! If I had the option, I would give it a rating of less than one star
3/5

I'd like to return it because we bought it less than 60 days ago, but they won't let me because it's been more than 30 days. There must be a design flaw because the beans do not fall from the hopper into the grinder, causing it to run and run and run without producing any coffee. It has been cleaned at least 15 times. Spend your money on the Barratza instead. If you don't want to donate $200 to the internet ether, stay away from this piece of garbage.

This is something I really enjoy
5/5

So, when it comes to tools, I'm a bit of a perfectionist. But, when it comes to coffee, I've always been a minimalist, and I've always adored my trusty, never-failing late-night machine. Braun's small push-top grinder (actually a chopper with spinning blades) is a modernist design. ) The old ones were notable for how few grinds came loose, how little clean-up was required, and how little space was claimed. But I misplaced that grinder and replaced it with a new one from another company that was high-tech but high-mess, requiring constant cleaning or the grinds would spill all over the place. And when it died after only a few pots, I decided to invest some money in a better solution. The Oxo, which was several times more expensive, twice as tall, and nearly as big as my coffee maker, came into play. It did, however, promise precise grinding for drip, press, and espresso, as well as a new fangled integrated scale, which I thought was cool but unnecessary. br>br>I had no idea how much fun this would turn out to be. I tell the scale I want four cups, and it delivers exactly that. Alternatively, you can use 5, 1, or 6 as an example. Simply turn the little back-up clock-clock-clock-clock-clock-clock- Turned the knob with the glowing digit on and pressed the start button. I changed the amount per cup the day I got it, and that was the end of it. This is a minor but significant distinction. I used to have either the small scoop, which required two per cup, or the large scoop, which required heaping, which I did with beans or after grinding, and I had to scrape out the grinder to get all of it. I put a pound of beans in this spot and will add more beams in a week or two. However, things get even better. Without any counter-corroding wayward grinds getting loose, this grinder cleanly deposits the perfect grinds into its open lid container. That cup is just sitting on the scale; there are no snapping lids or careful container inserting, no extra parts to get in place, and no closings to be aware of. Simply take the grind cup, turn it over, and shake it lightly into the drip filter. Done. There are no loose grinds to be found anywhere. All while keeping an eye on the carafe filling up. The only thing that requires thought is turning the knob to determine the number of cups. br>br> Look, this isn't a life-saving, world-changing device, but it's been 6 months and every time I use it, I smile at how flawless it is. And I smile at how comfortable I am with this large grinder on my counter, which was previously a small and nearly invisible grinder.
