This item includes a large label glued to the side of the cake pan (NOT SHOWN IN PHOTOS). I tried rubbing alcohol, baking soda, soap, hot water, and steel wool to remove the sticker, but none of them worked. BUYING THESE IS NOT A GOOD IDEA. If you can't clean these cake pans properly, they're practically useless. This product should either be removed from the site or replaced with a more accurate photo that clearly shows the stickers. The cake pans in the photo do not have any stickers on them, as you can see. That's a big lie! Get a different cake pan to save yourself some time and trouble.
Scrubbed with a Scrub Daddy, then soaked in alcohol and scrubbed again with Goo Gone. Wilton has a major problem with their labeling. They're in the dishwasher right now, on the longest, hottest soak/scrub cycle I have. reciting a prayer I've been working on these for over an hour and am getting a headache from the glue removing chemicals. UGH. Added the next day: br>br> On two of the four pans, the dishwasher did not remove the remaining glue. In the dishwasher, it just got tacky and gummy. My husband used lighter fluid to remove it, and it was no problem. I then ran them through the dishwasher once more to get rid of any remaining lighter fluid. Is it possible to begin by cleaning with lighter fluid? If you really want these pans, it might be worth a shot.
They come with a useless sticker that is stuck under the rim's lip and can't be removed without tearing it in half. So you'll have to spend more time removing the remnants of a sticker and sticky residue that don't belong on any of these tins, let alone all four. That isn't all, though. Another useless sticker is stuck to the center of the tin with glue and is impossible to remove. I was so looking forward to these, and it's such a letdown that there's now so much extra work and product required (goo be gone) just to use them. I would advise everyone to avoid making the same mistake I did. Simply change the brand you're using.
They bake evenly, and they're easy to clean up. Soap and water are all you'll need. I use a cooking spray oil and a piece of parchment paper to line the bottom. Nothing has ever stuck to the pan in my life. In terms of the stickers, I had no trouble getting rid of them. I simply rubbed back a corner and gently yanked it off. There was no trace of anything.
Straight-edged pans are my only choice. It ensures even layering and stacking stability. Rounded edges may cause your cake to collapse depending on its height and the weight of its decorations. For everyday baking, the pans were adequate. However, I don't know many home bakers who require four pans of the same size. If you're making a double barrel or stacked cake, you'll need to trim a lot of the layers to make them even.
The pans themselves are perfectly fine, standard pans. The packaging, on the other hand, was abominable. On the inside of the pan, there was glue that refused to come off. We scrubbed the glue off the pans for ten minutes. It's ridiculous. There was also a sticker on the outside of the pan that wasn't easy to remove. I would never buy these again simply because of the packaging. I was disappointed to say the least. Horrible.
These are incredibly entertaining. Cake decorating and baking are two of my daughter's favorite activities. She's only 13, so she enjoys tinkering with things like this. Three of these work well in a single box cake. We're making a variety of fun cakes, both from scratch and from boxes. I'm also pleased with this one. Good luck with your baking!.
I prepared them carefully, knowing that I wouldn't have the benefit of nonstick, so I used a plastic knife to loosen the sides, flipped the pan over, and heard a slight pop as the cakes gently landed on the wire rack. Perfect! I used about 1 cup of batter per pan, but an extra 1/2 cup would be fine.
