There is a USB port that enables you to interface with a PC program that lets you compile reports. You can save screenshots to the SD card. In both cases, the processing is done within Surftest. The tester comes complete with everything you need, just be sure to order the model with the stylus diameter that suits your needs. There isn't much learning curve and it only takes a few days or weeks to figure out how to use it. Besides the feet, I ordered a bracket for height gauges and a few accessories. The manual includes generic settings for all measurements that can be found at the end. I wish it came with some sort of SD card. This is a very good and easy to use program.
Testing woven tarpaulin with this has been successful and it does what it is supposed to do. There is only one issue as you work on your measurements, either you need a custom-made one or you need an instant one This can be achieved by securing the instrument with a built-in stand or in another way. The natural way to do this would be to make the bottom of the instrument (where the AC adapter is located) totally flat in order to be able to store the instrument there between measurements. The display would be easier to read, and you would be able to get away from the material you want to avoid. In fact, I find myself putting the instrument with the display toward the table, as this is the only stable side to place it on that will not make the stylus come into contact with anything. I can still read the display, but I cannot read the text.
