I recently replaced my water softener, but I was unsure if the new system was functioning properly, so I ordered these hard water test strips to make sure. Hard water vs. soft water was a comparison I made. water from a bottle vs. water from the tap water from my new softener (as shown in the photo). These test strips were exactly what I needed. The color of the hard water test strip was 'brown,' which corresponded to the hardness rating on the scale that came with the kit. The color of the bottled water test strip was 'green,' indicating soft water. Finally, the new water softener's test strip appeared to be 'green. ' This gave me more faith in the new water softener's ability to function properly. Overall, I am happy with this product and would recommend it to others.

We relocated from Minnesota, where the water is hard (and water softeners are required). We were told that you don't need one in Tennessee. I was pretty sure we'd need one within a week. My husband was like, "Nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn Sure, it wasn't as hard as Minnesota's water, but my nice curly hair was starting to look like a haystack with no curl, so I knew something was up. We are now in the process of purchasing a water softener.

This appears to be a good indicator of water hardness. It seemed to be accurate when I tested it on tap water with a reported hardness of 225 grains per gallon. After that, I tested commercial distilled water, which revealed that there were no grains per gallon. I experimented with a 50-percent chance of success. It said about 125 grains per gallon in the 50 mixture. The color matching scale has a wider range between intermediate readings than I'd like, but it's still usable.

I wanted to make certain that our new water softener was up to par. I was concerned that based on reviews of various water test strips, I wouldn't be able to get an accurate reading. I went with this option, and I'm glad I did. I double-checked by testing three different water sources. The results were almost identical to what the water softener salespeople told us during their pitch. The fact that there are 150 test strips is convenient because we will need to test on a regular basis. I would strongly suggest it.

It's great for drinking, but not so much for growing. So I had to use this to make sure my plants were getting enough water. It works great and is a good price.

There is no scaling in my house. My girlfriend's home has a lot of scalability issues. A TDS meter was used to test the water, which was white on the refrigerator, white on the dishwasher, and so on. Mine is 93 pages long, while hers is 297 pages long. I bought this test to double-check and get a sense of the readings; hers came back with a 7 on the stick. I couldn't believe my eyes. It should've been a lot more. I went to my house and did a water test. Can you guess what it said? 7 wtf? br>At each house, I even used a few strips to ensure I was getting an accurate reading. However, I'm well aware that this kit is worthless. Charlie, I apologize for the inconvenience.

Two extra bags of refill strips were included in the box, one of which had already been opened. In addition, the test is highly inexact. My water is hard, but none of the colors on the chart even come close to describing it.
