Questions & Answers

What conditions should the strips be stored under in order to preserve their integrity? Are the test strips ever disposed of?

It's true that the test strips become stale over time. material in the testing loses its precision over time as it oxidizes. Medicament is only available from HydroTec if the freshness date on the bottle indicates that they have a shelf life of more than one year and a half.

The calcium content of water correlates with its hardness, but how?

Calcium Carbonate precipitates from water, and Magnesium Carbonate can be a component of scale in a lesser degree. It is the amount of calcium and magnesium ions in water that is measured as Total Hardness. Test strips made by Hack use a chemical the can exchange for calcium and magnesium ions, thereby identifying the levels of calcium and magnesium in the water by changing the color of the strip. Both calcium and magnesium ions are removed by a water softener by exchanging them with sodium ions. As part of the regeneration process of softening, huge amounts of sodium attack the calcium and magnesium sites in the resin so that they are removed by

Do you know if the accuracy of this kit has been verified or denied?

As a result, the range is too large and accuracy is minimal

Do you know when the expiration date is?

After 3 years from the date of manufacturing, the test strips are due for a replacement.

Using this product is simple and produces It does exactly what you want it to

A note, although mine were supposed to be bad, apparently the strips start off green and turn into was initially concerned that they were bad upon arrival, as I had not perceived this. My first test was to use one strip with water from my tap and the other with rainwater from outside. As you can see from the attached photo, the rain water turned brown and the tap water turned green. This told me my water softener was working perfectly.

Make sure your software is up to date It is referred to as "softened water"! I found these to be convenient and quick
5/5

We used a lot of salt in my water softener, but it wasn't regenerating as it would at any other time, which gave me a suspicion that it wasn't working. Upon testing the water, I discovered that it was extremely hard. I hired a new company to come in and install a new system, and after the technician left I did the test Water that is perfect for drinking. The kit is a great addition to your collection!.

I've purchased some here in the past that didn't, but this one does
5/5

Unlike the other water hardness tests sold on Amazon, this one uses a chemistry to display different shades of the same color, before displaying different hues between two very different shades of the same color. Unlike the one-lined file, this is much easier to read. It is also less sensitive to lighting conditions and unlike the one-liner, it is more compact This method is better because the sample patch on these isn't water soluble and so doesn't wash away or dissolve into a useless variegated color There is a pattern in the shading. Despite the shortcomings, the overall score is up substantially.

I did not find this to be useful at all
3/5

The water in my home is very soft, and I have hard water in my vacation property. The BWT Bestsave softening pouches I purchased were to be used with an espresso machine that required soft water. Using the strips, I measured both tap water in my homes, along with the hard tap water softened by the BWT pouch all of them measured within 120 to 250 parts per million. My first reaction was to purchase an API GH and 2 FTE, but that didn't seem right to me The KH test kit may be used to test for dehydration. As a result of this kit, I was able to achieve a much more reasonable result The hard tap water was 133 parts per million, the BWT softened water was 67 parts per million, and the soft tap water was 53 parts per million. My Hach kit may have been defective to begin with, but these test strips didn't work for me.

check if your water is soft, hard, Hardness cannot be calibrated with this method
3/5

The salt that my water softener should use is based on pool test strips, which I used just now for the setup. It was difficult to read the pool strips since they used purple and blue. When I saw the Hach strips on Amazon, I was eager to try them because it looked like the contrast of colors would be convenient. If all you want to know is whether your water is hard, medium, or soft, the strips are good. Using these strips to calibrate how hard the water is was a waste of time. In my case, I observed that my outdoor hose produced a light brownish yellow color that was different from the bottle's colors. Having learned from Hach strips that my water contains more than 25 grains per gallon, I would have estimated it to rate that high. As I reviewed my pool strips again, I found that the water had I later found another website that reported that the average hardness in my city is 14 grains per gallon (which is exactly what my pool strip is). Although I didn't give the HACH product a perfect score, I still rated it with three stars because it provides an easy way to check if your Per gallon, 10 grains). A key feature of this product is the ability to measure water hardness. Having treated water that matches the soft water color scale, the water in the house looked good. There is a valve on my water softener that allows me to add a little hard water to get rid of the slimy feel and improve the taste. By changing the water from 0 to 1 with the test strips, I was able to adjust the pH. By adjusting the valve and testing several times with a water strip, 5 grains per gallon can be achieved. In your case, I would recommend professional testing or visiting your city to find out the average hardness for your area in order to calibrate the level of salt you should use with your system.

It is not a good option to fine-tune your softener using them
3/5

This is not my cup of tea. Over the years, I've worked in water treatment, and each test I ordered from Hach was the most common. It was difficult to read and not very accurate. The fact that I had zero hardness is hard to believe, but these would never register at that level. It would not be a good idea to fine tune your softener with them. Total Hardness kit from Water Works is a good choice.

They are a great tool
5/5

The text is easy to read and appears to be clear. They are a great tool. It's easy to read and there seems to be a good deal of detail. At Sears, we carry these models under the Whirlpool brand and we use them ourselves to service our customers. The Amazon Choice strips from Industrial Test Systems proved to be extremely difficult to use at first. Those are two out of five, while these are five out of five. That's all there is to it.

The above is just a rough estimate
4/5

In order to make sure I have an accurate reading of water hardness, I have a dishwasher. Using this device to test my water was difficult because the range between the colors on the scale is large. It goes from 7 to 20. Consequently, everything between you and the end is a guess. In my attempt to guess the best I could, I got several numbers wrong when I had my water tested by a more accurate kit later. In other words, if you're looking to get a ballpark idea of where your water hardness lies, this will be helpful. It cannot provide accurate readings if what you are looking for is accuracy. It should be known that looking at the product by itself will not provide you with all the information you need.
