Questions & Answers

Is the accuracy of this meter accurate? How often do users need to calibrate it?

A meter set up like this will tell you when you need to calibrate. The pH symbol will be located in the bottom right corner with a checkmark next to A few times a week There is 6 weeks (I think) until the check mark has disappeared (this may depend on how much it has been used), so it's time for a new calibration. There is always something there, but you get used to looking for Even if you didn't notice this quite right away, it doesn't hurt, so long as you don't wait for months on end before Despite its good calibration, this pen does not lose its value. The Bluelab storage solution is the best for it, since that is what the device requires. Despite its price tag, I prefer this pen to all others of similar quality. I find it to be extremely reliable.

Batteries are included in the set?

The battery for the device, which is included, is a single AAA.

After a calibration, the check mark does not appear with a For the 4 there is an error on the display due to the 0 solution. If this cannot be fixed, what can be done?

The following is what I read through. I need to be sure of these things The calibration fluids were fresh, the pen was properly hydrated, and the calibration fluids were properly cleaned prior to calibration. As soon as I checked all those boxes, the company sent me an rma number and gave me a 4-digit order number It takes 6 weeks to return an item. My suggestion would be to contact customer service at Amazon first if you recently purchased the pen. Best of

There is a pad to absorb the electrolyte storage solution in the cap, right?

It does come with a small piece of sponge material that can be used to apply storage solution whenever the cap will be worn for a long period of time. For a person who will be using the pen daily, I recommend that you get a small glass cup (one of those 100 ml measuring cups) and keep a storage solution in this cup and keep the pen placed in this as opposed to constantly removing and replacing the cap. In general, I mix 20ml of a storage solution with 30ml of distilled water to keep in a pen cup.

It's just not worth it, go with the Solution Base PH Tester
3/5

With the blue lab PH pen, I was able to get more precise readings than what can be gained with a You have to add drops to the clear container, shake it to agitate, and record your results. A PH pen is a joke if you're concerned about With the same mixture of solutions, I can consistently get the same results from my $2 test kit, but this PH pen seems to have a mind of its own, varying the results from day to day. My starting point is distilled water, and I use oral syringes to measure, so I know for a fact I should be getting very similar readings from feed to feed. So I bought some more calibration solution and gave it the benefit of the doubt. This helps a bit, but again, it has a tendency to maintain its baseline for about 24 hours before falling back into the abyss. If you are a new grower and wondering if this is worth the investment, I would pass on it. I hope this helps even one person save a little money. I hope everyone gets the small solution-based PH testing kit and throws out all the calibration and other BS that comes with this product. Cheers to all.

I'm not a happy camper here, because nowhere in the description does it say you're gonna have to spend another $50. The calibration solution, cleaning solution, and hydration solution were all about $0. 00. You will not be able to even begin hydrating the unit from the packets that come with it. Let's see what bluelabs and Amazon can come up with. It is already expensive to buy this pen, so it is ridiculous to add additional items after the fact, especially if it is not shown in the description.

Had I listened to the other reviews, the same conclusion would have been reached. Upon receiving the product, it was covered in salt buildup and had scratches/scuffs. leaves me with the impression the pen was previously returned, which raises the following What's the reason? It's a shame Bluelab pens are highly recommended, and the quality of this pen is questionable at best. Follow the instructions on calibration after priming the pen with storage solution will tell me if it works, but the fact that there is no mention of it being used is outrageous.

Having purchased 3 failed blue lab products, all of which were stored per service manual, I purchased this meter as be needed a ph reading while waiting for technical support to basically tell me to kiss my ass. Days and days went by without any response to my As a result, this meter was purchased in an emergency situation, and then failed after two Are there warranties? I would have been better off not using them at all and taking my chances, but these meters will all end up in the garbage. After proper calibration every 2 weeks both pH and TDS have been nothing but problems creating devices. The last time was the last time. Think carefully before you choose.

Was better off knowing what I know now

It looked as if the box had already been rummaged through when I opened it. Not a single thought crossed my mind. As I thought maybe it was one of the old calibration solutions, I didn't caliberate. As a result, I bought a new probe care kit that included everything I could possibly need. My first step was to clean and calibrate the appliance, but I found the glass probe was broken, and the return date is long past. The box looks like it's been torn through. If you do buy the pen, don't wait around. If the box looks like it's been modified, immediately return it.

Unit that is no longer effective
3/5

The cap of my pen was stuck hard due to a dried out foam inside. In addition to other reviewers, I also had a hard time removing the cap (after spending a full 5 minutes trying to do so). In the morning, I put the pen aside to soak for 24 hours, but when I went to calibrate, the screen said "Er". There is a significant difference in the calibration. If I am going to buy the item off the shelves, I guess I need to find a store. I found it odd that there was a piece of cardboard inside the box that held the pen that looked like it had been opened when it was still in its original box.

A second insufficient pen has been sold
3/5

Following the reviews, I was hesitant to purchase another one of these pens but sure enough, I was sold on this one. A pen that looked used had already been opened and was inside an opened box. In addition to having crusted material on the probe, after Rinsing and calibrating the pen with what was provided, it does not read as accurately as my blue pens. It is off by several decimals and I am driven crazy with it. This is pretty disappointing, since they know this is something that dries out and doesn't work well, so they should cycle them out before selling them. It is not appropriate to sell a meter that has sat on the shelf for years.

We offer fast, accurate computing, and a superb build quality
5/5

I am very pleased with this You can compute with its powerful speed and accuracy, and its user-friendly interface makes it accessible to everyone. In both use and design, the difference between a Bluelab pen and a cheaper one is immediately noticeable. This tablet has a solid overall feel and provides an awesome backlight display, temperature sensor, automatic on/off and automatic on/off. It is preferable to use AAA batteries over the tiny watch batteries used by most other pH pens. There is no need to waste time looking at cheap At the low end of the market, "price friendly" versions cannot hold a candle to the higher end,"Premium" versions, which are better in build quality, accuracy and product life. Support is also poor, if not nonexistent. In addition, Bluelab customer service is excellent they responded to any question I had within a short period of time. You can also find a lot of information about their products and uses online through videos and other websites. It is very important to purchase an extra bottle of KCl storage solution as well as pH 4 and pH 7 solutions There is a weekly calibration of 7 and a monthly calibration of 7.
