Questions & Answers

Can you tell me if the calibration solution is included?

I don't believe it does. This was purchased from Amazon under the name "Ricca Chemical 3170-EP" A fluoride standard solution was diluted to one part per million for a potency of 16 ppm F in a 500mL poly natural container. There are no pollutants present. The cost is approx.

When buying a Ph meter, can a Cl meter electrode be added to the same device, so both measurements can be taken by one device? Do you want to go the other way?

Those electrodes cannot be interchanged, I am sorry.

What are the pros and cons of using it for homemade fish ponds? Are you saying that it can be used to determine if oxygen levels in a fish pond at home are adequate?

There is no problem with it, it is an excellent piece of equipment that can be used in aquariums or for water supplies in the open.

Could you please let me know if you sell pH electrodes for Extech CL200? Would you mind telling me how much it costs?

The CL205* Electrode is a spare chlorine meter electrode. 119 dollars

Selected User Reviews For Extech CL200 ExStik Waterproof Chlorine Meter

This is a high-quality, reliable, and accurate instrument, but not one that can be plugged in and played immediately
4/5

Among all of the fluoride-testing devices I've seen, it's the simplest to use, so it's perfect for checking the fluoride content of drinking water. It is indeed a very powerful device, but it is not a toy. You must follow the exact procedure for calibrating and using it, as well as storing it properly, otherwise Normally I would give this product 5 stars, but I am worried that the average buyer might not understand from the description that this is not a "plug and play" device, and that following technical instructions requires a little bit of experience. It did not appear to be a low-quality instrument, but I was able to use it successfully. You must allow plenty of time and effort to properly use it It is necessary to have patience and be able to follow written instructions carefully. There are many well written instructions in the booklet, but they are not written for laypeople.

You'd better watch out if you use well water
3/5

Review writing is rare for me, but here it is. The hope is that it will be of use to someone. It is only due to the fact that customer service at the manufacturer at least tried to help that this got even 2 stars. My experience with the company was so good that I was even sent a replacement unit gratis after emailing back and forth with them for six weeks in an effort to resolve the issue. It is not clear that the product design has solved the problem, and as a result I am convinced there was a flaw in the design. There is naturally high fluoride content in the water I have at my private well For the fluoride (among other things in the water) I installed a pretty elaborate system of filtration, and I purchased this FL700 to monitor how the filter is working over time so I know when to replace it. In any case. It took some getting used to, but I finally got the calibration right. am also buying 1ppm and 10ppm standards to calibrate as well as checking my work after the calibration. When calibrated, the meter could show (reasonably) accurate readings for both standards, distilled water and a sample taken from my undersink water filter. Generally, when I test my well water - both prefiltered and raw - the meter keeps detecting/measuring levels above the threshold of its range, which is 10ppm (the meter simply shows The raw well water has a pH value of 5, according to a written analysis from an independent laboratory. A more realistic level is 3 ppm, which fits well within the FL700's range. I am forced to conclude that there is some other "contaminant" in my water causing the meters to behave the way they did, since both meters I received did the exact same thing. Then, to demonstrate that I was truly comparing apples with oranges, I even purchased a fluoride tester from a competitor, which used a different test method It was a simple ion level measurement) and those results were consistent with what I already In the case of city water where levels of all contaminants are controlled, this thing may be fine, but I am unclear as to how trustable it will be.

There is no warning about the lack of calibration fluid
3/5

Calibration fluid is not available for a full month after purchase, only device I've ever purchased that requires it's own calibration fluid. If you do have to buy separate calibration fluid, the instructions do not make that clear. There is a lot of anger in me. The fluid is sold separately because they want to make sure you get it first before realizing you need both products. I'm returning home.

This is a great item to have
4/5

It does what it's supposed to do. One wish I would have had is a backlit display on this meter. It was the struggle to get the fluoride solution to calibrate the meter that was the biggest hassle for me. A different website sold it to me and it took 3 weeks for me to receive it after I ordered/purchased it. If you are going to purchase fluoride from a vendor, check the lead time first. While I see it is available on Amazon, I'd still make sure to speak with the vendor about lead times.

The meter comes with a container of 25-metre hose. The reagent tablet package contains 50 tablets, so you don't need to purchase extras. This was the only downside of the user instructions in the box for calibrating the meter. downloaded an updated manual from the ExTech website and found it a lot clearer and easier to understand than the older one. Upon receiving my first meter from Amazon, I found the first one to be Over a large part of the electrode there was dried gunk. As a result, I had to send it back and received another one in its place. There was a very good chance that this one was used or opened, too, but it was in better shape.

An inaccurate reading on water with a high PH
3/5

In spite of precisely calibrating this meter, I was disappointed to find (that it gives drastically different fluoride measurement results when the water is alkalized and when it is not). (I got a fluoride level of 0 even after going through many filters. A reading of 1ppm is recorded when connected to an alkalizing machine, but jumps to 1 promptly afterward. is not at all normal), and also tested other high PH waters (which I know went through reverse osmosis before being ionized), and still the fluoride reading was always very I decided to return because I cannot really rely on any of the reading to be accurate. (
* I also do not have any ways to verify whether it is more accurate for neutral water/tap water.

There are a few other things to discuss
3/5

Extech700 is fine for the most part. Here are my concerns It is not included in the box the calibration liquid/solution for the Fluoride Meter FL700. There should be a very clear statement in the ad that its tablets do not contain fluoride in any way. With the 'Fluoride Reagent' tablets, be sure to use an additional calibration standard solution containing fluoride. You will need to purchase the additional fluoride-containing calibration solution This is misleading because the 'Fluoride Reagent' included is not fluoride. I am also disappointed that you can't use the Extech FL700 meter right out of the box without purchasing it first. Observation #2 In many other reviews, I have read that the FL700 arrived used, wet, With its electrode cap off, and the electrode, which was originally packaged separately, already installed in the meter, the Extech meter was ready for use. As a result of its free returns shipping arrangements, along with its communication with the seller of the meter as well as the seller of the additional Fluoride Reagent tablets I purchased, Amazon deserves credit. In the hopes that future purchasers will understand, they all need to make it clear. There is another place to buy a fluoride calibration standard.
