it is fully extended, you can use the mirror portion for inspection and it just swings. We cancelled the remaining portion of the order due to the low quality of the product. There are better options out there for the same price. I should point out that both mirrors in this order were exactly the same.

After moving the mirror, I made sure it was facing the right way. It is impossible to extend the mirror when it does not stay in place. This causes the extension to spin and the mirror to be thrown out of place. I've owned three inspection mirrors in my lifetime and this is the best. (This is my fifth purchase of this mirror), however with heavy use, the handle breaks away from the mirror due to poorly welded hardware at the back. it is a poor quality spot weld because I am an AWS certified welding inspector and a nuclear engineer. just fine for most normal use. If you break the spot weld, you can simply JB weld it back together.

When I travel, I use this product because it is sturdy, folds down, the mirror is not distorted, and it fits neatly into my suitcase. This tool is perfect for what I needed it to do, which was to see how the birds' nests around my house are doing. This was useful in locating puzzle pieces that were lost behind a baseboard heater as well as for searching for puzzle pieces. For checking some copper pipes in an obscure area of the ceiling/wall, they were difficult to reach. During my search for this tool, I was unsure what it was actually called, so I was pleasantly surprised to find that searching for 'mirror on a stick' brought me exactly what I was looking for.
