As a result of a malfunction on the receiver, I had to return this tracker Some of the times, your screen will come on, but you have to hit it with your hand sometimes to get it to work, which is unacceptable for a device of this price and In addition, Amazon sent me an unsealed box from Amprobe, when I opened it the package was not sealed from the The Amprobe 7030 I received on 10/22/18 (I presume I received a used item, or the quality has reduced over time. ) When I started to read the manual, I found out that I may have received a used item. I have a big surprise for you! The 1500 dollars only trace 110 to 240 volts of wires! In the instructions (page 7) it says "(page 5) the transmitter is rated for 300V, but I would think using it on 277V could cause damage to the unit. ". What a shock! I am shocked! A $1500 gift! Additionally, you cannot use it for 277V or WE ARE GETTING STARTED RIGHT NOW ON RETURNS!.

While this tool is expensive, I justified the purchase because I will likely not need an electrician to use it. The power outlet I was using had a live circuit that affected several In using the tool, I was able to trace a circuit and find a GFCI outlet I did not know it had, and I found a nick in the hot wire in the last outlet I was able to trace the wire along its entire path (the nick in the hot wire was shorting on the ground wire). Taking a little more time to learn makes life a lot simpler for a technician whose job is to find a single wire out of hundreds. As of yet, I haven't mastered the tracing part. I am sure it works just as well as the other, I just haven't mastered it yet.

ONE HAS TO LEARN HOW TO DO THIS. THERE IS NO TOOL YOU CAN JUST PUT ON THE TRUCK AND EXPECT YOUR CREW TO SAVE TIME ON THE JOB BY USING IT. As with all testing equipment, you must first learn how to use it. It is a great help to have the quick start guide. YOU ONLY need to print it out and put it in the case. The construction of the building is excellent! It is tough and even a new apprentice dropping it off the ladder won't bother it, but they might lose some testing cables if they do. Although I was not very fond of it at first, I am, after a few years of using it, becoming more and more accustomed to it. Some of the older breakers are still sitting at my house where I tried to get to work, but didn't get anywhere other than extending the job. This one I worked without any issues, I simply had no issues locating it. I liked the wire tracker even though it is kind of odd and quirky. Although I have not tried the open circuit location or the short circuit location, I plan to do so when I have more time. As a whole, THING WORKS, AND I CAN SAY THIS ABOUT MORE THINGS THAN I CAN SAY FROM OTHER THINGS I'VE DONE. GOOD PRODUCT SO FAR AND I WOULD ADVISE SOMEONE WHO IS WILLING TO COMMIT TO KNOW HOW TO USE IT TO PROPERLY USE.
The software is highly accurate and user-friendly. An easy to use interface. It's important for us to increase our productivity as contractors. Use this tracer to find your way. There are definitely a few batteries involved, that's for sure. However, they tend to last quite a long time, depending on how they are used. It's a good tracer, and I recommend it.
