It was mentioned that there was a need to hook up the ground to a separate circuit in some reviews. In addition to advanced tracing, it's recommended to use bitmaps too. Yet, I have never experienced any issues with it when hooked up hot to neutral all day long. The breaker can be found on the second lowest setting if you are looking for it. The search will eventually lead to its discovery.

I thought the breaker was dead, but it turns out there are multiple 200-amp circuit breakers in this old house The labels on service panels and breakers did not indicate the true source of power. In spite of the fact that this device had only moved very slightly off of contact, it led me to the correct breaker panel and breakers.

It was not possible to get a good battery life

The brand new batteries in this wire tracer have been on for a little over a week now, and the low battery indicator has been on a few times. This is a nice case, but I did not like having to connect ground to a separate circuit. As far as professional work goes, I have a BT 120 from am probe that works great but I would like to go further. We're returning this and trying to find a fluke tone generator or something similar.
