In my previous jobs, I have used Mitutoyo digital micrometers. So for my current job where I am expected to supply my own measuring instruments that I am familiar with, I decided to get one. Located at the same place as the previous jobs, this micrometer is extremely accurate, measuring parts reliably to the thousandth of an inch. Additionally, this micrometer is able to read both inch and metric measurements, which is important for most of the parts I've been producing lately that come with metric size parameters on them.
There is no other micrometer on the market that is as good as these. Precision of 0. 00005 in a spindle that is smooth as silk. The zero to one range is one to two, and the one to two range is one to two. These two are wonderful in their own ways. As far as I am concerned, I am picking up everything up to 6 inches.
easily and smoothly, so you get a very repeatable measurement. The rod is held in place with a ratchet and has constant tension. You can even save money on it if you use the Camel Camel Camel price watch when you are not in a hurry.
This mic from Mitutoyo is of the usual high quality at a fair price. It has smooth operation and the 1" jack is nice that it can be used with other equipment as well. I give it two.
I'm a mechanical engineer and my measurements need to be accurate. With this micrometer, I am sure that I am getting repeatable measurements that I need to do my job properly. Thanks to the IP65 rating, the micrometer is protected in a hard plastic case, so I don't have to worry how oil or coolant will get on Mitutoyo is the only brand I use for digital measuring, and I wouldn't trade it for anything else. The ratcheting thimble makes it easy to measure over-sized objects. When used properly, it is nearly impossible to torque the micrometer, and it is quick and easy to adjust. Displays in inches or metric A value of 0. 01 is equivalent to 0. 00005in. readable and, with a simple button press, absolute or reference measurements are selected (or between inch and metric). For your reference, you should lock the spindle before putting it away so it stays in the low position It will automatically turn off if the micrometer is put away because it wakes up as soon as it detects spindle motion, and wakes up again as soon as it detects no motion. Mitutoyo's digital AOS Vernier calipers, which have an on/off button, have a power on/off system that I prefer to this one.
This mic has a digital interface. The program does everything it is supposed to do. The standard version and the battery version are included.
I cannot think of any problem using this micrometer since anyone can use it.
