Even though I enjoy reading a traditional micrometer, reading directly from the digits is far more convenient. br>This mic will measure to the tenth of a millimeter, but you'll have to use a traditional vernier scale to get the final digit. br>There are several ways to calibrate these: You can calibrate the thimble markings just like a regular microphone, and you can open up the digits section and correct the displayed digits. There are videos on YouTube of men repairing these mechanical-related issues. It's not difficult to use digital microphones.
microphone with a power supply This digital mechanical microphone is battery-free and has a /- accuracy specification. 2 microns (approximately /-) 00008". br>br>It's a little bigger and heavier, and it doesn't balance quite as well in the hand as a purely mechanical, non-electric device. mic on a computer It's a lot easier to use than a regular computer. br>br> However, it is more difficult to use than a battery-powered microphone. digital microphone with power Because the digital counter on this mechanical mic is on the front face, but the vernier scale is on the top and back, this is the case. That means reading the digital counter on the front and then moving your head over the top or back side of the mic to get the full vernier reading is always necessary.
I like digital readouts, but I don't like the fact that they are battery-powered. Because my eyesight isn't what it used to be, it's nice to be able to avoid using the vernier as much as possible (though the last digit still uses it). br>br>Because it's mechanical and not computerized, it can't convert inches to meters, but I have a cheaper electronic one for those times when I need it, which isn't often. br>br>Aside from the reading method, it's a joy to use - Smooth action that is consistently repeatable. br>br>I'm sure the equivalent Mitutoyo electronic model would work just as well, but I prefer the mechanical version.
I like having one of these on hand to go with my Mitutoyo LCD microphone. A manual digital mic provides a greater sense of reliability, and it's always good to have a second opinion to keep things honest. I also prefer the friction thimble to the rachet because it provides more sensory feedback. It arrived in perfect working order and was correctly zeroed out. Excellent value for money!.
I've experimented with a variety of digital microphones. This is a great option, and I'd purchase it again.
High quality; I would have preferred a smaller size, but the digital microphones do not require a battery. One-handed holding is much more convenient.
Great micrometer, excellent quality, precise and repeatable measurements, and it works flawlessly.
It's accurate to the tenth decimal place, and I use it on a daily basis at work.
