A portability factor was one of the factors that led me to choose the 8-inch. I use a 6 inch combination square, which is analogous to this device, which does the same thing as a combination One of the key elements of this tool is its ability to trace a line along the edge of This can be done using a combination square by placing your pencil on top of the ruler, however, if you move the combination square, the pencil is likely to fall off. Using this device with the "t" makes scribing lines easier and it has a scale on the "t". for the 8 or 14 inch, it depends on how deep you want to scribe. The 14 can do the same thing as the 8 can, but it's not as portable as the 8 can be.

Several YouTube videos delivered me to the point where I understood how to use the Vernier scale after about 6 hours of watching them all. In general, my criticism of this tool's Vernier scale is based on the fact that it measures in inches to the 1/128th inch, so, like many other Vernier scales that measure in inches, this one's scale is set at that level. There is no cure for this, but it is very common. The Vernier scale is a way of measuring inches, but instead of a scale of 1/128th, some instruments use a scale of It is scaled down to 001 inch. Math is so easy with this method that you can do it mentally. This is the same as a Vernier scale - it measures millimeters Math can be easily done in your head in these cases. It's not in millimeters that I work. For me, inches are worth a lot. As a result, I would like a Vernier scale on the tool. There are 001 inches in a meter. It was well worth the money spent on this tool It's made, and should hold up very well, but you need to do some tedious math It would have been easier to make with the simple method. It is scaled down to 001 inch.
initially frustrated because it does not have any instructions and there are some measurements on the slides that are not necessarily intuitive. What I use it for is squaring the fence between my table saw and routing table. This tool is not in the box or online. It is very convenient to use for that because it has a lock on the slide. The 90 degree joint is precision machined with zero play, and the joint is a true 90 degree. Although it was somewhat expensive for no instructions, I was able to find a useful application.
It is overpriced. It looks and feels like a tool that you'd expect to pay a third of the retail price for. The scale lines are only down to 1/16", which is wide for something you're paying premium cost for. In the description and photos, it does not appear to have metric markings or both. It is marked in inches only.
The build quality and accuracy of this item are really good. The price is a little high though, especially when I can find similar products on Amazon for much I'm not familiar with this company well enough to compare it to others. Hopefully, I will be able to test the product against the competition to know if it is a better product. But, for now, it seems to work fine for me. Another thing I don't like about it is how light it seems. The metal appears to be solid, although I am unsure if it is hollow. If it is hollow, I'm not sure what to make of it. This would be more reasonable if it were made of solid aluminum, and I think it would feel more substantial if that makes Despite its cost, I don't think I can recommend it, but I do like it, it seems accurate to me.
The layout tool is lightweight enough for woodworking, but still strong and accurate, anodized aluminium, a very good product for Right angles are precise enough to work with wood.
My gateway drug. I loved it so much that I bought every Woodraphic measuring tool I could find. I am so glad to have found this site.
In addition to using it as a machining square, I also use it as a marking gauge. I find this to be useful for the vast majority of measurement needs, but it does not entirely replace either.
