Considering the price point of $5 each, I went for a little more. This is an expensive-looking product made of very inexpensive plastic, and its sliding action is not smooth at all. Trying to measure small, awkward items with them is difficult as they stick to them. However, they are fine for measuring things like the width of a pencil or the diameter of a cell phone. In some cases, smaller objects can be more difficult to move when they won't As far as I'm concerned, they should cost less than half what they currently.

If you know how to read a vernier scale, it can be used for less precise, under 3" measuring

Choosing them for garage projects, depending on whether you need to get the accuracy down to zero, can be somewhat difficult. However, if you know how to read the vernier scale, it can be quite possible. In terms of price, there are no better choices than those marked "001". For my wife's second grade class, I purchased a number of them. Please make sure that scale makes sense to you. Machine shop applications are never suited to this type of product.

I would expect something of this quality level to cost well under $1 at the 62 price. It would not hold the setting until you could really see it. If you set it at 00, very loose, it would not hold. I sent mine back for a.

Despite perfect alignment between the Vernier Scale and the Main Scale, the problem remains. In other words, the Minor Scale can't give you any measurement. That is awful.

It is a tiny set of calipers, but they work. It is more for teaching children than it is for doing precise work, but the price is right for what it is.
