I usually buy Starrett tools and have a lot of them, but this divider is the one that disappoints me the most because the first one I ordered had a crooked leg and the point ends didn't match up well. Although the replacement was slightly better, the round holder on top that holds the legs was completely bent and off center. I just decided to send it back and call it a day on my search for a new divider because it was unacceptable for such a high-quality brand name and price. When compared to the new set, I got a vintage set from Starrett that is far superior in fit and finish. Unfortunately, they don't make them like they used to, despite the fact that I recently purchased some new and perfect Starrett tools; I guess consistency and quality control are lacking.
These are definitely high-quality, but I'm not sure they're worth the money; they adjust a little more smoothly than my $12 dividers, but I don't think they perform any better once they're adjusted. I have no complaints about the quality of the product or the way it was packaged. I don't think I needed these nice dividers, and I should have saved my money. Normally, I aim for the buy-it-now option. once- cry- I used to be a philosopher, and I can usually appreciate the quality that better tools provide. But I don't think that's the case with these.
The points were even and tightly closed, but the fulcrum spring was tilted to one side, which was obvious as soon as I removed the dividers from the box. Although it's unlikely to have an impact on functionality, why pay for Starrett quality if you're not getting Starrett quality?.
This method is effective. It performs above and beyond your expectations, and it is of Starrett quality. I tried a less expensive product and had to send it back. It couldn't even complete the most basic tasks. Save time and money by purchasing this right away. It will make you very happy.
These are excellent for stepping out distance and ensuring that everything is in order. I like the rounded, smooth edges and am satisfied with them overall.
The work of Starrett is fantastic. It's pricey, but it's a good investment. All of their tools are meant to be used for a lifetime and passed down to future generations.
