Item of good quality
5/5

Take what I'm saying for what it's worth; I'm just a casual leather worker. I decided to treat myself to a better pair of wing dividers after years of tolerating a cheap pair where the legs would flex and most of the time end up marring the leather. These C. The Osborne dividers are exactly what I was hoping for. It's well-made, has a pleasant "heft," a nice sharp point for scribing, is simple to adjust the spread, and, most importantly, the legs don't flex when in use. Other reviews had expressed concern about the gap between the legs when fully closed, so I was a little concerned. One person claimed that their pair did not close up more than a quarter inch. Another person stated 7mm, while another stated 5mm. My pair has a 3mm (1/8") gap when fully closed. Although I'm only a beginner, I've never worked on a project where I needed to meet a tolerance of less than 3mm, and 3mm (or 1/8") is the distance between the edge of the leather and the stitching line, according to professional leather workers I've seen. Maybe I was lucky enough to get a good pair, and the others were unfortunate enough to get a bad pair. My pair has made an impression on me. C is something I'd strongly suggest. Anyone looking to improve their wing dividers should consider Osborne. They are a little pricey in my opinion, but I believe the quality will satisfy you. That's for sure.

It's a Pair That Divides
3/5

They're a sturdy item with nice sharp points that's perfect for leatherwork, but they don't close. These dividers stay open for a minimum of 7 millimeters. This means that, for example, if you want to stitch 4mm from the edge of a piece of leather, you won't be able to do so with these dividers. No bueno.

This is a well-made, accurate tool
5/5

Calipers have a wide range of applications. I have about a half-dozen sets that I use on a regular basis. None of them would be suitable for machinists who work in thousandths of an inch, or potters who frequently compare inside and outside diameters and require a tool that is not affected by water or slurry. br>br>The Osborne tool is ideal for transferring measurements from models to final sculptures, which is what I do. It's made of a lot of steel that's been tooled to very precise tolerances. This set is especially nice because it opens and closes freely, then locks instantly and securely, and finally has a thumb screw for fine adjustment. It's certainly tough enough to withstand a few knocks. br>br>While the 6" size is adequate for most of my needs, I keep my 4" Starrett and 12" no-name close by.

Very well-made! But,
4/5

I had high hopes for this and was disappointed. First and foremost, it is extremely durable, which is a feature that I was looking for. When I applied side pressure, I didn't want the legs to flex. That's exactly what it's for. The points, however, were not finished as precisely as I required, so I had to finish them myself. In addition, the points are not always as close together as I require. They don't get any closer than a quarter of an inch. However, if you don't require it to be any closer, this is an excellent tool for you.

Amazing, nice groove for leather stitching
5/5

It's incredible and well worth the money. I was using a cheap wing divider with very thin/narrow tips that left a razor blade-wide groove. This is great because it leaves a nice wide/deep groove that makes placing my diamond chisels much easier and consistent. This is something I would strongly recommend! I thought the 6" was a little shorter than I was used to, but I still like it. Getting the larger one is probably the better option.

Precision tool of exceptional quality
5/5

Without a doubt, first-rate quality. They have limitations because even if they are completely closed, there will be a small gap. They are, however, high-quality wing dividers, and once set to a specific distance, they will remain that way. Overall, it's a well-made product with a good fit and finish.

This tool is well-made, durable, and well-respected. It's not difficult to find videos of this tool being used in leatherwork on YouTube.

But there are no flat points

They ought to sharpen it for the price. I was the one who sharpened the points.
