It opens to about 12 inches, but it won't fit through a 12-inch opening. diameter of one inch
I bought the 4" size, which is 5" long (high) and 4 1/4" wide when opened. So, the 6" version, I'm guessing, will open to 6". It is suggested that you inquire with the seller.
Groz is an Indian-made product.

To turn handles for woodworking tools, I needed a few small outside calipers. I'll be copying a "master" with the calipers to make 30 handles. The ability to set a caliper for each diameter on the master was extremely useful; however, given their low price, I was concerned about quality. However, after inspecting the Groz calipers, my concerns quickly dissipated. The Groz 4" outside calipers did an excellent job. They are an excellent value and will be an excellent addition to my toolkit. Form and function are both five stars.
The outside calipers appealed to me in every way. I needed them for a specific job that required a small size, and they were ideal. I've previously purchased GROZ calipers and found them to be both affordable and of excellent quality; These, too, did not let us down.

I'm a professional woodturner who has long been annoyed by the flimsiness of most outside spring calipers. My search for a good quality caliper that is also affordable has come to an end with these calipers. Excellent fit, finish, and feel. The spring is nice and stiff, and the adjusting nut is precise and spins freely. There are no sharp edges or burrs. This is an excellent deal. I went ahead and ordered another two dozen for students to use in my classes.
I would buy these calipers again because they are an addition to my set and allow me to set each caliper to a different diameter for the project.
The product will work, but it is not very precise; the contact points are very imprecise; however, they are adequate for a quick measurement or tolerance check. Not yet up to the task of critical thinking.
This is a good set. I'd suggest it. It comes with a good layer of oil on it, so you'll have to clean it up. There are a couple of dings as well, so I guess they're already broken in; However, it is still a good deal.
I've purchased a number of outside calipers over the years, and this is by far the best. The build quality is comparable to my $150 Beta calipers. From now on, this will be my go-to.
