in terms of functionality but . This tool was just delivered to me. It's a 'heavy duty' device, in my opinion. The pivot appears to be extremely tight, and it generates enough friction to keep the set for multiple measurements. I'd give it five stars in terms of functionality. However, the finish along the edges of the divider arms was extremely rough, as if it had been pulled over a bench grinder with a coarse stone. I just spent 15 minutes polishing and sheening with a large file and a fine grade of emory paper/cloth. I'm thinking about buying some non-alcoholic beverages. Although I occasionally buy tools made in the United States, I still expect a professional finish. The pencil-holding sleeve is riveted to the arm and does a good job of holding the supplied pencils. Neither of the tool's screws (hold-down) are in place. down for the arm-locking arc, and the pencil-retention screw) is captive and run a little loosely. If care is not taken to keep track of them, they may be easily lost. After filing and polishing, the tool now looks much better, feels good in the hand, and appears to be durable; I would recommend it to others. In a woodworking environment, the tool is used. Working shop for repeating measurements and transferring measurements more easily. I haven't tried making circles yet, but it appears to be a good fit.
As a professional artist, I adore this tool for creating perfect circles (as evidenced by the attached artworks). It's large enough to make large circles for use on larger pieces of art. It's well-made and can accommodate any standard pencil size. The needle used to keep the tool in place is very sharp, and it will poke a hole in your artwork if you don't put something between the artwork and the needle. I used a rubber eraser that was very thin. If you're OCD like me, you'll love making perfect circles! 🤣.
Surprisingly, the piece that holds the pencil was broken off the compass when it was delivered in a box with one other lightweight item. I was surprised that the weld didn't hold because the compass is very sturdy and appears to be well made. I contacted the company but received no response, so I'm returning it to Amazon and writing this review. If the firm contacts me, I will provide an update. br>br>Recent changes: br>br> After receiving our initial email, a representative from the tool's manufacturer responded quickly and sent us a replacement compass. This problem has been resolved to our complete satisfaction, and my husband considers the tool to be excellent. He regrets not getting it sooner.
Overall, this works well, and the heavy-duty construction feels good in the hand. br>br>The finish isn't "refined," but for the price, I can't complain. br>br>There are a couple of minor flaws I'd like to point out. br>br>Aligning the pencil for the first time is a bit of a chore. It's very softwood, and despite the fact that the screw bites in well, scribing the line without wearing down the lead and causing the other metal point to dig in for large circles is difficult. br>br>Second, due to the compass's size, small circles, i. e. about 4" dia. If you're going to use this for a lot of small circles or arcs, this is probably not the right tool for you; find a smaller one.
We began by placing a work order. When we first received this compass, many of our employees were overjoyed with it. It is critical for large-scale projects. large-scale drawings, and the creation of large-scale patterns Designers, artists, draftsmen, and even seamstresses were required for the creation of this tool. Following that, I made a personal decision to place one order: Thank you for creating such a useful tool for professionals! Good luck with your company!.
This divider/compass is a lot heavier and more solidly built than I anticipated. It provides excellent value, in my opinion.
The quality is good; it's made of metal and appears to be well-made. The lock nut holds everything in place when it's set to a specific space. I bought it to use as a scribe, and it works well for large open projects, but I need to get a smaller one for closer work.
This tool was simple to use for me. It's not a cheap divider, so it's got some weight to it. I would highly recommend this product because it is equally easy to use with a pencil or a metal scribe.
