My experience as an amateur machinist led me to think that the bottom would be exact as As well as tramming my mill, I planned on using it. That's nothing to worry about! There is nothing but roughness on the bottom. The problem has nothing to do with Starrett's technique it's just supposed to be accurate for a single A professional machinist would never even consider making that mistake, where I assumed it to be so. The following information is just for your information. Despite the fact that it is not supposed to be used for what it is intended for, it still appeals to me. There was a talk between Starrett and me. Their reaction probably made them think I was crazy. They were very kind.
The full traceability of these products is guaranteed with certification. This is the right size for me, as the things I work on do not require a large surface plate. If I had been able to buy something from Standridge or Precision Granite, their flats of this size are not even made in the United States. There appears to be no one else in the US that makes granite flats this size, besides Starrett.
Upon receiving it, it looks to be in excellent condition. The package arrived on time and in pristine condition.
A little dude like this is near perfect. It is relatively small, but wow, I can't believe how flat it is! The quality of this small plate is by far superior to other small plates I have purchased from amazon.
