Questions & Answers
The surface is smooth and slippery. But I'm sure a little sanding would fix that.
There is no adhesive backing on this item. I used it on my indoor steps and secured the underside with Liquid Nails, as well as a few paneling nails on the front.
Heat bonding of this material is not possible. If you're looking for a permanent, non-flexible solution, Gorilla Glue worked well for me.
That is a question that should be directed to the manufacturer. Direct heat has a negative effect on neoprene rubber.

After a few hours of fighting crime, the rubber suit starts to stink, but I have to keep my secret identity hidden.
This was left unwrapped and spread out for three days outside. I'll admit that the foul odor subsided a little after installation, but now the entire basement smells like it. In addition, the price is exorbitant.
Junk.
To prevent the hard plastic wheel from scratching the newly plastered pool, we'll install swimming pool cleaner wheels. We are currently testing some felt that has adhesive attached to it, which was obtained by the wife.
This product was a complete waste of money. I use the rubber to wrap arrows to help straighten them and to secure laminate bow staves. They all started breaking after only a few days of use, destroying one set of arrows.
The item I purchased was marked as non-returnable. I was also given adhesive. This item was purchased to serve as a leveling mat for a rimless aquarium base. The piece I received was not perfectly square, but I knew I wouldn't need the entire piece anyway, so I planned on cutting it down to size. There was a strong rubber smell when the product arrived, but once I put the aquarium on top, it was no longer noticeable. It's perfect for an aquarium base, and it's a lot less expensive than the alternative at my local fish store.
Okay, so, as some other reviews have stated, this product has an extremely strong chemical odor. The only way I can describe it is as if you were bathing in a pool of tar as a chain smoker. Lord knows what chemicals were used in that Chinese factory, because even the plastic wrapping it came in was stained yellowish. The material itself appears to be adequate, but I would have chosen a different roll if I had known the smell would be so strong, as my specific requirement was for my car. Because it's a small enclosed volume of area subjected to high heat in the summer, this is probably the worst application. I'm hoping it goes away after a while.
I chalked it up to user error, and my grandfather used a pair of scissors to make an OEM-quality filter. There are no leaks, and the flow is exceptional.
