A stainless steel can be one of several types. It comes in two main types austenitic and ferritic, which differ in their atomic arrangements. As a result of this difference, ferritic stainless steels tend to be magnetic while austenitic stainless steels usually aren't. This powdered stainless steel is made from stainless steel that has been recycled. Therefore, both austenitic and ferritic stainless steel can be present. A blend may have a minor magnetic attraction since it is blended.
Ground from recycled stainless steel, our stainless steel powder is high in tensile strength. Our knowledge of what stainless steel originally was does not match our ability to assess the metal accurately.

There are definitely more shades of dark brown than in this picture. It's a bit lighter than pencil lead, I would say. The fact that I have gotten some nice results using it as an inlay in wood (using CA glue) hasn't stopped me from doing so. To get it to shine like metal, a lot of sanding and polishing must be done. I find it keeps getting better with finer grit. After 2000 grit it looks good, but as you go finer it looks even better. The effect of polishing it all the way down to 12000 grit (the finest polishing pad I have) is pretty close to the appearance of I have only had a little bit of rain My walls were sanded with mineral oil, so I can't speak of any other methods. There is a bit of a learning curve with this. Because of the fineness of the build, even the thinnest CA glue pools up easily, so there is no point in using an accelerator (it would create too much hot air and bubbles) and you have to sand the whole thing to remove the build up Inlay materials (like mother of pearl or stone, the only other materials I've used) are what make up the most of my jewelry. Because it is fine enough to go airborne, there is no question that breathing protection is necessary. While it requires more work as an inlay, I do like it despite the time and effort. Although I wish it was lighter, like the picture, it is interesting to see, especially when used as a filler for voids in burls. To avoid darkening areas around the inlay, seal the pores of lighter woods first. Inlays will creep into the pores of lighter woods and can spread through.
Cold casting is an excellent use for this powder. As if it were a steel ball bearing, it polishes up very well. My only problem with it is that you can't make the silver very bright, like the picture they have of it suggests. You'd need a chrome/nickel finish to make the silver really bright. Nevertheless, if you are looking for something that resembles a nice piece of machined steel, this is a great powder. Likewise, if you need replica weapons, it should work well for that as well. The material is very nice, and it has a reasonable price! I haven't had it long enough to comment on its stainless quality. It should be rust-resistant, right?.
Because the hardness of this stainless steel makes it a good candidate for more aggressive polishing techniques, so maybe a fine sanding with 800 grit or finer followed by a paste that is designed The cold casting of something with fine details would be better accomplished with a softer metal powder that will polish smoothly. Despite the fact that I am completely satisfied with this product, I appreciate it for more than just its aesthetics.
It is a great price for a quality product. It makes the item more durable and hefty. The product will be delivered quickly and we will give you an exact price.
This was used for a polymer casting project as a strengthener and filler. It worked like a charm and performance tests of the finished product showed that it was significantly stronger than normal fillers and binders. Compared with the same product without this additive, a significant weight gain has been observed.
The product comes in a bag, not a jar as shown in the picture. This is too dark, and the picture does not look anything like it when it is enlarged This is true even when buffing. Iron powder casts just as it does with plain iron, I think it's not stainless.
The purpose of this purchase is to use it It is easier to see what you actually get from the cold cast in stainless steel than what you see on the screen. Even after many rounds of polishing, the actual result is quite dark and not very shiny. I am very disappointed.
Exactly what I was looking for.
