Metal is very nice. I've worked with cobalt, alnico, steel, titanium, aluminum, and other metals before, but this was my first time working with magnesium. Despite what you might read on the internet about cutting magnesium with diamond, I used a hobby coping saw to do it. It's one of the easiest metals I've ever worked with because it cuts so easily. I have no doubt I will use this again because it was such a nice metal, approximately 40% lighter than aluminum.

These were used to make crankshaft bearing shims for a vintage 1950s motorcycle. They were chosen because their thickness was extremely precise, they were lightweight to keep the crankshaft's inertia low, and they were simple to work with with a file.
