Despite the fact that they are both made of the same metal. Refrigeration copper tubing is measured and referred to by its outside diameter (OD) and is manufactured to ASTM B-2000 specifications. 280 It's possible that the 3/4 you're referring to is a 3/4" Type L or K copper tube with the ASTM B-117 Water tube spec. The inside nominal diameter of the water tube is 3/4 inches.

Neither. It's ACR HVAC tubing that's sized by the outside diameter (OD). K& L copper tubing is used in water piping and is measured by its ID dimensions. They're ASTM standards that aren't the same.

Is 3/4" really the case? Although the tubing is satisfactory, the product I received is not 3/4" - br>Both of the OD IN - It's closer to a quarter of an inch

3/4" is not the right word

The tube was not 3/4" in diameter. I purchased 3/4" connecting valves for it, but the valves were much larger than I expected. This tubing is closer to 5/8" in diameter. Beware.
